Forrest is 10x worse than Johnston, at least Johnston tries to face up a player and take them on. Forrest runs away from goal so he can’t be tackled and the stumpy no necked cunt missed two absolute sitters.
The most amazing part of the whole match was blue Bobby not giving a penalty and a red card there.
He let me out in traffic once. For that I forgave him.
Mikey is a lovely man. But he needs to go on loan or something to a less dominant team to learn the importance of not losing the ball.
I think people will soon realise how vital Ralston is to us.
Just on last night.
I think how dominant we were for the first 40 minutes will be overlooked but we’d have been good value for a 3 goal lead by that time. The same with the Aberdeen game at the weekend.
I think it’s a reoccurring problem that we are not making our dominance pay. Kyogo was good last night, thought he really lead the line well and his pressing was top class in the second half when we were under the cosh but he’s been a little quiet lately. Teams have cottoned onto him and he’s not quite as big a threat in behind as he was earlier on.
We get an awful lot of crosses in the box but really fail to make the most of them, would a conventional 9 suit us more? Obviously Giakomakis is injured now but the decision at the weekend might be between Ajeti and Johnston. Ajeti is dogshit though, just overweight and technically poor.
But anyway we really need to start killing teams off when we have our dominant spell.
For the weekend I’d like to see:
--------------------------------------Hart
Juranovic---------------CCV------------Starfelt--------------Bolingoli
----------------------McCarthy-----------McGregor
---------------------------------Rogic
Abad---------------------------Kyogo--------------------------Mikey
What’s the issue there? He got it wrong and owned up to it, can’t say fairer than that
I think Ralston will be a loss but, at the same time, Juranovic is starting right back for Croatia so he should be relishing the chance for a run of games in his best position. I know Ange said Ralston’s injury seemed to be the worst one, but I don’t know what the specific injury is. He appeared to get hurt in the act of whipping the ball across for the goal. He was holding his knee/shin so it didn’t look muscular.
Ange also said Rogic wasn’t due to play 90 last night but had to because of the enforced subs. He might start on Sunday and do 60 but we need to be wary of the quick turnaround, as it was a hamstring injury he had. I’d be comfortable with McCarthy (preferably) or Bitton starting in midfield ahead of Rogic or Turnbull. I think we were very leggy in there and got overran for a bit in the second half, although we got a second win and saw out the last 10 minutes well enough. Rogic can either get 60 or 30 depending on what way we go.
Kyogo has been notably quieter in open play for the last good while. His movement and work rate is still terrific but we’re struggling to find him. I don’t know if that’s because opponents have adapted or we’ve been lacking some guile with Rogic injured and some other absences. Given Jota’s injury, I would have been tempted to move Kyogo to a wide role to get him more involved in games but that’s complicated by Giakoumakis being injured. I don’t think Ajeti has a long term future at Celtic but he’s looking much leaner lately and trying hard when he’s been involved.
So there’s that option and then there’s the like for like Johnston or Abada for Jota alternative. Johnston was below par again when he came on last night. Cutting into traffic and meekly losing it in a challenge when Montgomerie had come around on an overlap into acres of space irked me (it was like Ralston’s run for the goal, only Monty might even have had a run in on goal himself such was the space he was bursting into).
I still think it’s eminently possible that Ange can get a tune out of him, but it’s coming to the boil for him and he needs to start producing soon. He’s had some big injuries in the past but he’s been fit for quite a while now. Sure he hasn’t started often but he’s in full training, getting plenty of minutes off the bench and should have more rhythm and better awareness/decision making. Abada has been on the periphery of most games he’s started for a good while now so I think I’d discount him starting. Forrest was disappointing last night too but he’s generally been okay since coming back from injury. I think he starts if we’re happy he can go again in less than 3 days. Overall, I’m not sure whether I’d choose Ajeti or Johnston as the change but either way it’s a big enough downgrade on Jota.
Theres an inspection for Sunday ongoing
It’s that his default position is to call for decisions that are to Celtic’s detriment, whether it’s appealing for non-fouls against Celtic or downplaying/excusing opposition fouls. Even he could hardly maintain his initial stance when it was clear the player fell over himself. As an ex-Celtic player, he seems to relish being a cunt to “prove his impartiality”.
