Does Rodgers look ill to anyone else?
It’s a bit of a mess alright. I’ve gone on about last summer’s business a lot already but think @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy referenced that only 1 of the 9/10 signings was involved yesterday (Palma) & that says it all. Rodgers spoke about having the final say on signings & how the recruitment set up (led up by Lawwell Jr) was vastly more professional & advanced than when he left the first time & it was one of the reasons he came back. So I don’t know how you square that. Reports on Saturday that they’re trying to offload Lagerbielke in January. That’s now looking like a panic signing - apparently Starfelt’s agent recommended him as his own man was leaving - & it doesn’t really showcase the type of set up Rodgers was eulogising. If it was that professional they’d have their own database of targets & not just be taking a last minute agent recommendation.
That kind of flat atmosphere after losing Postecoglou & then Jota et al & not replacing the first team players properly has been exacerbated by the unnecessary row with the supporters. Possibly no coincidence that the hard line was taken since Lawwell came back but it’s added a toxicity when you want some unity.
One thing I kinda disagree with you about is that I don’t think the transfer business was spot on throughout Postecoglou’s tenure. I’m not sure it’s been right since January 2022 when we got Maeda, Hatate, O’Riley etc. He also did good business in a desperate situation that previous summer when we got CCV, Jota, Kyogo, Juranovic etc. But I’d say summer 2022 & winter 2023 have been below par too before you even get to last summer - signed a lot of lads that the jury’s still out on such as Oh, while others are back up or nowhere near the standard needed like Bernabei, Kobayashi. A couple of good ones in there like AJ but not the hit rate of Postecoglou’s first season. It’s almost like the squad had been so decimated they were forced to be more ambitious & let Ange build a team but now they’ve reverted to type.
Agreed with the rest of your post but this is just a mistranslation from an article at the time that has been carried over for months now.
The original Swedish article just said the agent had worked hard on two deals and there was a mistranslated tweet saying he had recommended his client and then it has become fact since then.
Rodgers is a ford Mondeo of a manager. Should be at Rochdale or possibly stoke.
They defo fear Dundee
Careful now.
