Christ, they destroyed us in the second half. One brilliant Gordon save and another unbelievable save preserved the draw and we didn’t have an effort on target after half time. A shambolic display. Would you take Murty as next Celtic manager?
Second half was as poor as either of the halves against Hearts. Lost most physical battles, panic in our defence, midfielders not showing for it, not even attempting to play football but not set up to adjust to longer stuff.
The home display against Anderlecht was shameful. It was obvious things needed to change. Thankfully the huns are so poor themselves they couldn’t take advantage.
Armstrong, Forrest and Sinclair are nice footballers but go missing in tough games. McGregor only marginally better. So Brown has to do all the running & tackling for the whole of the midfield leaving him bolloxed by 60 mins.
It’s just as well sevco are absolutely crap.
Celtic would struggle in the championship
Ntcham, Brown and Forrest have been our only decent players this season. The decision not to start Ntcham backfired spectacularly. McGregor was abysmal throughout and Armstrong was terrible in the second half after a good first half. Sinclair was diabolical - would you accept £12m from Swansea or Bournemouth for him?
Pressing us aggressively seems to be the way to go for opponents. Lustig and Boyata aren’t really good enough in possession, the jury’s out on Ajer and Tierney is overrated because he’s Celtic through and through. We haven’t been able to build up from the back when faced with those tactics against the likes of Anderlecht at Celtic Park, Hearts and today because our keeper and back four are collectively shaky on the ball when pressurised.
That in turn makes it harder for our attackers and Forrest wasn’t helped by Lustig being muck. That said, he wasn’t great when he was on the ball. Brown held it together second half in truth. Hopefully this Compper guy can distribute from the back as well as defend aggressively.
They’d struggle in League 1. Bad few days for the pretend ira lads
On balance I think we need to retain some perspective here. We won a treble last year while staying unbeaten. We’ve already won the League Cup this season. We’re 4 trophies from 4 under Rodgers in Scotland and we have Europa League knock out stages to come in the new year. We’ve now 1 defeat in 73 (seventy three) games in Scotland. We’ve won 5 and drawn 2 games with Sevco under Rodgers. It’s a time for cool heads and cautious reflection. That said, Rodgers needs to go after that second half shambles.
Tierney is Celtic’s best player by a mile, Rogic and Brown are probably the next best, Sinclair is a good player but badly out of form. Roberts has talent but is vastly overrated.
After that it’s a pretty average bunch.
Well that’s obvious mate, they all play in Scotchland
Rogic has been well off form this season when fit. Tierney has been decent enough but has thrown in several patchy displays too. Brown, Forrest and (lately) Ntcham have been our best players this season so far.
You’d know about average anyway.
If the manager showed more faith in Rogic than a carthorse like Armstrong then he’d have had much more of an impact.
He’s gotten plenty of chances in fairness.
Real David v Goliath stuff for a club formed only about 5 years ago to go and get a draw at the home of the Scottish establishment team Glasgow Celtic.
Armstrong has alright.
Rogic is a far better player but finds himself on the bench in many games with Armstrong starting. McGregor is fairly ordinary as well but he looks like he resembles a footballer at time, Armstrong is garbage.
Rogic has gotten lots of chances in between being injured and away with Australia. He’s been very much off the boil this season.
Rogic is far too slow unfortunately. He has talent but he’s a luxury too far in Europe and even in games like that.
Not selecting Ntcham was a big mistake. He has the physicality and the composure to play in that midfield. Both Armstrong and McGregor panicked on and off the ball too frequently.
An off the boil Rogic is still twice the player Armstrong is.
Clearly not. He can’t pass the ball. He’s a player with a decent turn (as long as he can shoot at the end of it) and a very good shot. But he gives the ball away way too often. He probably looks good in highlights but he’s not good enough to get in an average Celtic midfield.
Rogic comes up with big goals and assists in big games.
Armstrong tends to score them when we’re 3 up or something like that. The fact that a chump like Armstrong regularly gets a game ahead of Rogic whose talent is very noticeable is frustrating. Rogic stands out like a sore thumb in an average Celtic midfield as he has quality in him.
