Champions league 2016 - Round of 4 thread

Disappointing to say the least. Sorry for Manuel, but another illustration of why its time for him to move on.

Two legs as bad as Vincent Kompany’s.

Man city are fairly gutless… big clearout needed.

Two centre halves, two fullbacks, two central midfielders and navas are gone. Doubt silva and aguero fancy peps style too much either.

De Boer called it at half time here in the dutchy. When asked if he thought city had any chance of coming back he said not a hope*

*at least that’s how in interpreted the body language and facial expressions of the team in studio because I don’t speak dutchy and don’t really have a clue what they said

Getting rid of players is the big problem for most Premier League teams now. I think most people have copped on to the fact that the Premier League is a rotten market these days and buying there usually gets you very poor value for money. Buying in foreign markets can get you better value for money and better players, but who then signs the dead wood you want rid of?

Athletico 11/10 to lift the cup.

China will be a good outlet for the deadwood.

Real Madrid fan, Rafael Nadal looking pleased with himself as the final whistle blew.

The wages premier league players are earning is the biggest problem when it comes to moving them on. When you have the likes of Jonjo Shelvey raking in £80k a week you know the whole thing is fucked.

We did it

There’s an American fella here who was watching the match and at one stage he turns to his colleague and asks:

How long do injured players get to lie down for before a “Delay of Game” flag is thrown?

There’s merit to his madness

You’re 24 hours late

When you have two sides who were both runners up in their domestic leagues in a so called ‘Champions’ League semi final, it is inevitable that there will be a dilution in quality.

Really interesting point mate. Is there much of a correlation of shit games amongst teams who aren’t champions? Are you saying the only good games will be between teams who are champions?

Like the hotspurs next year ?

I’d have to fully agree with that

Like Real Madrid and Man City tonight, Tottenham really shouldn’t be competing in the European Cup next season. This once great tournament is dying a slow death since it admitted 2nd, 3rd & 4th placed sides.

I’m having serious trouble thinking of successful intra-Premier League transfers in recent years.

Sturridge perhaps, Clyne, Lukaku are a few I can think of but the list of badly judged ones is extremely long.

Liverpool and Manchester United have focussed on signing players from other Premier League teams more than most over the last few years and have both blown vast amounts on middling to poor players at this level.

Manchester City’s intra-Premier League signings over the last few years have been really awful. Rodwell, Sinclair, Nasri, Delph, Bony, Clichy. Sterling hasn’t had a good season. Milner was reasonably successful and might prove to be again at Liverpool. Mind you most of their signings from abroad have hardly set the world on fire either.
