Champions League 2022/23 Matchday One (its a grand old team to play for)

As impressive a start as you could’ve hoped for. Real are shell-shocked.

Celtic need a goal they are absolutely destroying them here can hardly sustain this manicness

Who’s that commentator with Houghton. He talks far too much. It’s TV not radio.

Hazard has the look of a man after a few pints last night.

Suppose if you are commentating the more you talk the less time Ray has to talk, a positive

That was a cracking half of football. A joy to watch.

Celtic look tired. They’re all quality players though. All comfortable on the ball.

Who’s on the rte panel?

Great performance from Celtic … hard to sustain … would like to see Kyogo soon

Celtic have played very well here and are in hard luck not to be ahead,

Smashing first half. Proper big time European football.

If Manchester City had had Joe Hart in goal against Real Madrid in the semi-final last season Real Madrid would not have reached the European Cup final.

Celtic tired a good bit in that second quarter and will need to get their second wind.

Richard “Richie” Sadilier and Kevin Doyle

Mcgregor fantastic

Seemed to fall deeper as the half went on. Real are a who’s who of football talent though. Real look consistently dangerous. Losing benzema was a plus for Celtic

He has been brilliant. Hatate has had some sublime moments too but McGregor has hardly put a foot wrong and has broken up a few dangerous looking counter attacks.

Are fotmob on drugs? McGregor smashed the ball of the bar, is that not one would call “big chance”?

Excellent contest and Celtic display so far. Think Abada has lost some confidence/nerve since shooting tamely when Jota magnificently put him through. Real are gradually getting into their passing groove as Celtic understandably tired from the frenetic early pace so it might suit Maeda’s all action style to set the tempo again. Kyogo also an option obviously but I think Giakoumakis is battling well upfront. Hatate is usually spent after 60/65 minutes so I expect to see Turnbull on for him.

Haksabanovic could be crucial off the bench yet
