Gakpo could really break out post Salah. One of those Guardian lads was saying of the two wingers, one has to be more conservative and responsible on the ball to sustain attacks and maintain pressure. Salah is the risk taking winger Mahrez and Grealish would be the responsible wingers at City. When Salah goes, Gakpo could open up maybe.

Elmas was sensational for me during lockdown when I took Burnley to the title in championship manager (@footixoftheday)

The two centre backs are beasts and Robertson is a warrior. Wouldn’t be sold on Sbozlai, think Curtis Jones is a better player on the ball but isn’t getting the chances. Even though I’ve read Sboz is playing the wrong position as the right sided most advanced central midfielder, that he is more comfortable receiving the ball on the left-hand side. He looks clunky on the ball to me.

He cuts in lovely like he just did there. Likes to give it a whack.

Seems like slot has taken 10% off the top in favour of control. Suiting the Dutch lads/ konate a few others. Trent / Robertson / Nunez less so. Still success breeds success and all that .

What did you think of Chelsea? I thought they looked pretty good and Maresca is a very good coach. Good system. The Portuguese defender they brought on down the left is a savage.

I thought Chelsea were very good but haven’t seen them at all really apart from that. Sample sizes: too small.

Wins against Brugge and young boys will be enough for knockout

They are good (ish) but much better than the dogs dinner everyone thought they’d be. Caicedo and Neto are savage. At least they look like they have a plan now.

Lille winning 3-1 at Atletico Madrid after being 1-0 down early. That Jonathan David will surely move onto bigger things, another 2 goals tonight.

Ken Early fairly eviscerated @Good_Will_Punting opinion that Liverpool play a more aesthetically pleasing attacking style under Slot than in the Klopp era. Slotball has been good though. Excellent away results and plenty of attacking flair tonight. An enjoyable, open game. Liverpool tend to feel their way into games these days. No blistering starts but a gradual seizing of control.

Those random Feyenoord fans in comments section on the internet were at pains to assure Liverpool fans that they’d hired a gem during the summer. Maybe those guys were more reputable than the Ajax crew laughing to the bank while telling clubs to “take care” of their prodigies.

People way too quick to write off Caicedo, a savage and really good on the ball in the right system. Their biggest issue could be where they fit in Enzo, they are wed to him at the fee, he is probably my favourite player in the league but he isn’t great out of possession.

Liverpool are way more pragmatic now I think. With the defence and keeper they have, they don’t need to be in those see-saw games. They probably haven’t quite the same chemistry in the forwards these days as well compared to peak Klopp.

Must be Turin 99 since an Irishman had such a standout night in a champions league game.

Yeah the Klopp style was like a dopamine hit for the modern football fan because it was exciting and full of thrills and spills. Certain viewers won’t like the more patient possession based football. Albeit less than 45% possession at the weekend doesn’t really align with that statement. What’s really stood out to me so far is the absence of draws. Draws can be a killer in a title race, some can be good but so far Slot has managed to avoid any.
