Reminds me of a Gareth bale goal
Villa top of the league
What a goal
Sule is some pile of shite .
A right of passage. It’s where Ryan O’Dwyer got a few clips one night. He says unprovoked but it’s not that type of place.
Real Madrid did to Dortmund in the second half what Dortmund did to Celtic in the first half of their previous game.
There are levels here.
@Bisto, when will we have your Atalanta-Celtic preview? I wouldn’t mind a double pivot rather than a pair of eights (cc @neilld). Think you’d want somebody beside McGregor to have more solidity rather than two in front of him.
Atalanta man-mark and press really aggressively. I hope Rodgers allows Celtic to go back to front quickly to overcome that high press at times. Constantly trying to play through it risks losing the ball in dangerous areas. And I’m well fed up of seeing Celtic concede goals in clusters away from home in Europe. Getting rattled, losing all composure after a setback & then giving away another quick goal…and another one.
I think the tactics the last day were too ambitious but it’s easily to speak/post in generalities about being more compact, pragmatic, disciplined, streetwise etc. The proof will be in the detail & I remain to be convinced that Celtic can be more resolute while still carrying an attacking threat.
CCV & Taylor are out so Trusty & Valle will continue & that probably doesn’t bode well either. But you never know.
Villa Park was hopping tonight. My first time there is a few seasons. They play a nice brand of football and have some good players. McGinn looks to be carrying a few kgs.
Christ that was almost an almighty call.
I like Valle , he’s a baller and has only played 2 or 3 games in Scotland so only getting used to lads hitting him shoudlers or tackling him with their hands more than their feet. He’ll be a proper player if he gets enough of a run
I broadly agree but he’s had some erratic moments separate to being victim of agricultural tackles by haggisheads. For example, when he was last man on Saturday & ran past the ball & crumpled onto the ground & let your man run through one on one.
Must have been hard to see the game with those lions blocking the way
Was Duran giving Ollie Watkins some shade last night? Love to see it
For sure, an extra Trequista in midfield is the call when one is in danger of being overrun.
Team news from Bergamo & Brest will be DROPPING shortly. I’ll be collecting my bhoys from afterschool soon, as I’m lone parenting tonight. Snack at 5pm, kick-off in Celtic game at 5.45pm, change into pyjamas & brush teeth (for them) at half time, watch second half & a little bit of the post match “talkie bit”, up to bed with them at 8pm, back downstairs asap afterwards to keep an eye on 8pm games & to furiously/excitedly INTERNET depending on the Celtic result. If Celtic are still in the top 24 after tonight then that will be a positive.
Idah in for Kyogo.

Very open. You’d worry for Celtic as the match goes on. Atalanta would be used to maintaining this pace.
Idah needs to show like he wants the ball in an attacking position
Celtic hanging in there . There’s something for them on the break if they just get the pass right , seem to lack confidence going forward . Engels has been disappoint
Think Idah’s hold up play & lay offs have been very good.
Atalanta are absolutely relentless though. That high pressing, full on, man marking all over the pitch style was wearing Celtic down as the half went on. Kinda clinging on for half time & Celtic have ridden their luck at times but couldn’t question the effort. They’ve really been digging in.
The frustration, as you mention, was when Celtic broke through that initial press & found themselves in promising situations but didn’t take advantage. Need to take more care with the pass & there’ll surely be breakaway opportunities.
But it’ll largely be more of the same as regards pattern of play. Will need to stand up defensively again & hope for some luck.
No he has but there was times when there was more there for him he had a bit more confidence to make the run
