Was a good watch. Last half hour reminded me of last 20 at Celtic park. Bayern look ordinary once olise and mussuala are kept quiet.
I think Rodgers has two selection decisions tonight - Taylor or Schlupp at left back & Maeda through the middle with Jota on the wing or Maeda out wide & Idah upfront. I’d be inclined to go with Schlupp, Jota, Maeda but we’ll see.
Bayern Munich aren’t in the habit of losing at home in the CL (20 unbeaten) & they don’t tend to lose ties when they win the first leg encounter. Plus they’re at home, a stronger side with a sprinkling of world class players playing in a top five league…taking on Celtic who possess a downright poor away record in the CL.
So the portents aren’t good for Celtic tonight, albeit they did well enough in the first leg & were fairly unlucky not to earn a draw. My fear would be the traditional away from home against a top team early goal concession &/or goals shipped in clusters. We’ve seen elements of both away to Dortmund & Villa this season, for example. We’ll need the dogged defensive display of away to Atalanta but with an attacking aspect that was completely missing that night.
I struggle to see how Celtic could viably get a result…it would take a Neuer howler combined with a professional foul red card for a Bayern defender or something along those unlikely lines. I don’t think they’ll be able to strike a balance of keeping out their varied threats while carrying the game to them offensively too. I think the best Celtic can hope for is to give a good account of themselves in the match & show the club has progressed & matured in Europe somewhat this season.
But there’s always a chance, even if it’s tiny…
Milan back level already
I’d start Idah and Schlupp but no real issue if it’s Taylor and Jota. Either way expect both Jota and Idah to feature for a good spell.
Low on optimism for today but a test of our improvement to see if we can be competitive. The early concessions away to Villa and Dortmund were disastrous - despite us responding well to both for a spell.
Give it a go ![]()
The Ceeeeeltic
Milan down to ten and emptying the bench
A thunderbolt header there. Milan in bother….
Lovely ball in. Feyenoord had been dominating without creating a whole lot but it’s there now for them
The lad who scored for Milan was playing for Feyenoord a month ago. I think manager was fired recently too, be some result.
Feyenoord retreating too deep already instead of pushing on
Inviting trouble. Kyle Walker by God….
A right dickhead that fella
Pavlovic putting some shift in, but few else busting a gut for Milan
Feyenoord go through
Atalanta 1 down on the night and 2 down on aggregate
Kuhn what a chance
Ah Jaysus
Celtic should be 1-0 up here.
