That was a real chance for Celtic . Bayern not good and sloppy .
Some win for Roma.
It was .
Not interested in moral victories but Celtic were excellent tonight. Three at the back suits us and Forrest has really taken to the wing back role. Pity we didn’t even get a point as a tangible reward for the performance, and it would have all but confirmed the Europa League spot. Brown, McGregor and Tierney were very impressive too and Rodgers has overseen incredible improvement in the jockos in the squad.
Atletico Madrid are all but out after only drawing 1-1 at home to Qarabag.
Disappointing result but that was a really good performance and the formation worked very well.
Tierney and Forrest were the pick of the bunch but lots of great performances. Even Boyata was excellent apart from his error.
Actually thought Bitton had a superb game. No real blame on the second goal and he created our goal first with a really high fast press on Rafinha to force a throw in for them and then be stepped up again aggressively after the throw to win a couple of duels and feed it across for Forrest.
Charlie Nicholas blasted Brown for showing zero ambition when they were chasing the game, every pass sideways and backwards he said.
Charles might be too fond of the Charlie which has possibly dimmed his brain unfortunately.
To be fair to Brown that isn’t his forte .
Was it 93 or 94 Celtic ended up with Charlie and Frank McAvennie up front for a small spell . Combined ages comfortably qualified for a pension and between then probably more page 3 girls than team mates .
A very dumb take on the game.
I think tonight showed again that McGregor belongs in the starting team. He’s just a very good footballer and can excel in several roles.
If we want to be critical then it’s the failure to sign a quality centre back in the summer that’s cost us over this double header.
Possibly though Boyata may well have played anyway if we bought a centre back at the expense of Bitton.
Agreed on McGregor. A vote of confidence to start him and another to take Sinclair off ahead of him. He’s a smashing footballer and has a great habit of getting involved in big chances in most games he plays.
I think as well it’s important we get the right players in. We can’t afford to sign a bad centre back. There are concerns about the midfield signings but we can accommodate more of a learning curve there. It’s a shame we haven’t got a centre back in but the right one may be more important long term than just any centre back. And it’s not clear how many decent quality centre backs we can attract - we were linked again with that Croatian chap from the summer last week.
Which guy was this?
No, it’s just banter.
Sutty putting a £30m price tag on Tierney here.
Rodgers singled out Forrest, Tierney and McGregor in his interview. Three homegrown players going toe to toe with the elite coterie of super franchises.
Filip Benkovic
He’s worth more than £30m
