Champions League - Round of 8

Cuadrado

He’s human

Doesn’t that happen every year

But they were especially poor this year, average sides were able to look good against them. None spring to mind now, maybe someone could help me out…

Real Madrid have lost just 3 of 47 games in the 3 in a row run. They lost to Wolfsburg 2-0 in Germany in the first leg of the quarter final in 2015/16. Madrid won the return leg 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

Real lost the second leg of the semi final in 2016-17 to Atletico Madrid having wrapped up the tie with a 3-0 win at the Bernabeu in the first leg.

The third defeat was the 3-1 defeat to Spurs at the Empire Stadium this season. Spurs drew 1-1 at the Bernabeu so essentially Spurs are the only side to get the better of Real Madird over 180 minutes. Both Wolfsburg and Atletico got destroyed 3-0 at the Bernabeu.

Not surprised to hear that Khedeira was found out against quality opposition.

It’s shit.

Better record than English football in this competition in recent years

Girona and Espanol beat them.

Wolfsburg beat them 2-0 in an actual knockout match. That is much more significant than a win in the group stage, especially given Spurs didn’t take advantage of their more favourable draw

Irrelevant.

A decent Juventus side , now in decline , papered over a lot of cracks .

Perhaps but I don’t see many EPL heads calling English football shit anytime any of their teams lose

The EPL has been lambasted here over the past number of years when their teams failed in Europe .

Spurs are the only side to get the better of Real Madrid over 180 minutes in their 3 in a row run.

Wolfsburg lead 2-0 at half time. Wolfsburg had lost 3-2 at full time. You are responding with a different answer to the point that I made. You told me I was incorrect. Tell me what’s incorrect about my assertion on Spurs?

The jury is very much out on Man City and Liverpool. The four semi final slots will be made up of the Big 3 and one of those EPL representatives. After a purple run of 5 of the 10 finalists from 2005-09, EPL sides have performed poorly for the most part throughout this decade.

The point you made is in the 47 games they’ve played in the CL in the last two and a half years, Spurs are the only side to put them to the sword. Disregarding the fact that it was only the group stage and that Real Madrid were regularly getting beat by worse sides in La Liga at the time as well, that Wolfsburg first leg is one of those 47 matches. That is a fact

I am not here to defend the EPL . The EPL teams have been poor in the last 5 -6 years.

Ronaldo missed a sitter right at the end … miss of the season :joy:

He wouldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo .
