No love for Modus tomorrow Fenners?
Cheltenham is some spot. Had a very good day. 1 first, 3 seconds, a third and a 4th. The collective groan when Annie Power fell was worth witnessing as much as the start of the Supreme Novices.
I backed Derek O’Connors yoke in the 4.40pm Best race i watched, his horse was going backwards toward 5th or worst. If that last fence wasn’t removed he’d gave been close to winning even though the horse was fucked. 3rd was a remarkable achievement. Really impressed by Douvan, Faugheen, UDS but most of all The Druids Nephew. He absolutely thrashed that field
Champagne Fever is my nap of the festival.

Was it your first time there? How packed was it, totally mobbed or not so bad? What were queues for drinks like? You picked a pretty eventful day in it’s history anyhow which i suspect won’t be forgetten for a long, long time
That Annie Power fall happened right in front of us. When the screens went up we all assumed the very worst, Ruby too he was shaking his head in his hands. When they pulled the screens away a good 5 minutes later and the horse trotted away like nothing had happened she got a roaring cheer from the crowd. Heard later it was for some other horse that had fallen at the last who’s name I don’t even know. Annie was long gone at this stage probably wanting a quiet word in Rubys ear for going all out for a big one at the last when there was patently no need to.
Other than that a glorious day. If you didn’t make a few pound today you’d want a serious word in your own ear. The Fly goes out on his shield. Hopefully he’ll have his swansong at Punchestown. Can’t get over Artick Fires run, unreal. Douvan, UDS, Faugheen it’s tough to pick which of them was the most impressive, Willie Mullins should be running the country
Yea first time.
Not as busy as i thought it would be. Drinks queues not bad but the the train station in Birmingham was bananas at 10am.
Yea very exciting day. Really enjoyable

Are you there for the week? It’s tough going to do four days there! Where are you staying, in the town itself or outside it? Tuesday would be the quietest day IMO (i assume figures back this up) and of course perversely it’s also the best day to attend. I went last year just for Tuesday having done longer stretches a few times in the past.

I hope you are right I’m on parlour games at fancy prices (25s)
If he wins ill be lumping into don poli
Will also be backing duke of lucca in the circles and bushes race @6s and have moon racers @ 20s and champagne fever @ 10s
No mate. Home tomorrow. In college at nights during the week and fucked with work so could only do one day. Stayed in Birmingham, very handy to be honest. Everyone says that about the Tuesday. Same in Galway from my experience - Tuesday eve or Wednesday are reasonable though the racing is shit!
I’ll come back next year for the week! Best day out I’ve had in years
McCoy is going to have “one last day”. If thats tomorrow he’ll cause a couple of shocks
BTW, can’t blame Ruby for Annie Power. There’s been days but today was not one of them
I hope he wins in honor of his late father.
What’s clear and maybe i’m stating the obvious but Mullins’ string are in rude health and are dangerous, so that’s more pertinent now for anything he has at big prices and ‘unconsidered’ generally. He has horses lurking in handicaps etc that will likely show much improved form.
He has the first and second favourite in the first. Then Don Poli. Then CF. You’d back him to get close in the bumper and the cross country(uncle junior maybe less likely than katie walsh’ yoke). He could easily come out with 2 or 3 winners tomorrow.
I do feel today was extraordinary in that even his second string were flying it. The Fly was superb in 3rd for instance. Its a monumental series of battles on Cheltenham Wednesday from my experience…
