Tough start for Celtic away to Shakhtar who beat us 3-0 out there 3 years ago. They’ve lost some of their best players since then:
Aghahowa went to Wigan
Matuzalem (their best player that night) went to Real Zaragoza this summer
Elano (wasn’t at them in 2004) went to Manchester City
Marica (much hyped then but wasn’t great) went to Stuttgart
Tymoschuck to Zenit St Petersburg (cracking player)

This summer they brought in:
Lucarelli (smashing player) from Livorno for EUR 10m
Willian from Corinthians for EUR 14m
Castillo from Olympiakos

Of those transfers I’m glad to see the end of Matuzalem and Elano looks decent. With Aghahowa and Marica gone too they’ve certainly less options up front on the face of it.

But Castillo was superb in the Copa America. I know nothing about Willian but Christ he was expensive. Lucarelli had an indifferent season last year so not sure what he’s like now but he’s a dangerous player in the air in particular.

castillo was excellant in the copa america

roma should start with a win

whats the story with tickets for the milan home game?

Shakhtar also signed another Brazilian I believe - can’t think of his name. He’s only a kid but he’s meant to be a bit special.

What games are you planning on heading over to? You mentioned something about being possibly unable to head to ones at the start of the month - but that’s both the Milan and Benfica home games afaik.

My only definites so far are Yes to Shakhtar and No to Milan. I’m going to try and go to the Benfica won anyway.

Half thinking of the trip to Ukraine if there’s an Irish charter. I’m off work that week.

I read on CQN they’re trying to arrange a charter from London so that might be an option for you.

I’m going to try to get days off for Milan and Benfica but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get them.

If not I might have to quit my job.

last time they played there the AICSC ran a charter

Is Shakhtar at home a no for you or are you just asking for the others off because they come first?

Yeah that’s why I’m expecting it - any idea on what the rough cost was?

Others come first and I fear we’ll already be through from the group by the time we play Shakhtar in match day 5 so it could be relatively meaningless.

400 /500 euro I think -their trips are normally expensive

The AICSC are not running a charter to Donetsk

Thanks Baby. At least I can say I was prepared to go unlike the rest of the fairweather fans on here. Imagine asking around for tickets instead of buying the Celtic One membership.

you can get a package from glasgow easy enough-its on the celtic website
