Clare Gaa 🐐 Thread mark II

There is a need for a good match day crew at that level to keep everything working. But they are not worth a fuck if you are not willibg to listen to them then from upstairs.
This 2 coaches and Cusack thing gets me though. Thats where things go wrong. One main coach is enough. If you want to bring in Brian Lohan to work with the full back line every now and then then i think there is value there. But 1 manager and 1 coach. Nobody has the exact same ideas so it gets very hard to manage and stream line.
6 guys to put out cones etc is mad. Thats what S&C and coaches are for, especially when not selectors.

I’d well believe many people with their head screwed on onew this if they were anywhere near the scene. To me it became obvious to the close watching hurling public in the LIT days and obvious to everyone in '13.

I said it at the time and got lambasted for it, the difference between Cork and Clare in '13 was S&C. Clare had an excellent one, Cork had a bluffing middle distance runner.

Well at this point, there isn’t a hurling man in the county who thinks Clare are on the right track.

A huge number of people refuse to attend games with him in charge, many of them because of the foul language.

I knew from a few Liam Mellows lads that his sessions were brutish and a return to the Mike Mac type stuff. They actually enjoyed alot of the session but said that his match day demenour and antics were off the wall and noone really took him too serious. Think he lasted the year.

:grinning:

This myth keeps running and running.
That Joe O’Connor is a pure monkey and iv said it on here before. The state the Limerick team were in this year under his watch was pitiful, a laughing stock. A few fat lads surrounded by lads stuck to the ground on match day complimented by a few natural athletes.
The Clare lads were stuck to the ground and over ran by a herd of Wexford plodders in 2 games while this bluffer was in charge of them in 2014.

Davy’s whole philosophy is about running the shit out of lads and then doing a heap of hurling drills when lad are tied/empty to replicate match intensity/pressure situations. He has little or no concept of rest/recovery and the lack of freshness/energy of the Clare team over the last two seasons especially has been shocking.

It is odd, as he is actually quite a loyal fella and despite all his bollockology he is actually very loyal to a number of players and the loyalty is fairly reciprocated and ia somewhat good to build it in a squad and some members of the squad have savage time for him like Bugler, Donnellan, Conlon, O’Donnell and a few others. Then on the other hand the likes of McGrath, Conor Ryan, Galvin and a few others would be completely apathetic to the man and probably hate his guts.

  1. Its his first year. It takes 2-3 to have a real positive influence.
  2. He does not pick the team
  3. Managers/Coaches often ignorantly ignore good evidenece based and experienced advice (which is largely common sense too)

He is an excellent S&C Coach. End of story. I think you have to look at the Garryspillane man (influenced by another old school merchant Considine) for the issues there.

Where is Conor Ryan?

One of those mentioned gave a very drunken abusive rundown of Davy last year on a night out with a friend of mine. No respect there.

Has been out injured since the Tipp game in the league.

Clare fans viciously turning on him…

Horrible sneaky cunts, Clare fans

Spot on

Clare has an oddly high number of supporters pages, forums, and generally weirdos who think they know far more than a man with All Ireland medals, both as player and manager, not to mention Fitzgibbons, etc.

Oddly high.

They have the highest ratio of printers per household in the country.

What does Buff Egan have to say about it all

He wants to know what is healthier, tuna in brine or tuna in spring water. And you can believe that.

And that’s not an insult, just a fact of life
