Clare Gaa 🐐 Thread mark II

Presume the majority of the team are Scariff? Rodger’s still underage?

Rodgers was captain yeah, I think I read something like a 13-2 split to Scarriff

They stayed up this year didn’t they?
Had a few on UL freshers team

Good to see teams from that side on the way back

Stayed up because of Rodgers. Have a few coming through alright.

Turfed out the manager midway through the senior campaign too

He’s class. Some addition to Clare when he’s fit.

According to my sources on the ground, Louis Mulqueen is set to become the new Inagh/Kilnamona manager.

Clare get back into action on Sunday, will be interesting to see what kind of a side is put out. Going from how the panel was rejigged Lohan was fairly unhappy with his depth in the backs, particulary half back with a number of older/more experienced depth players being removed.

Big opportunity for the likes of Cian Galvin, Darragh Lohan, Brandon O’Connell, Paddy Donnellan and the returning Seadna Morey to stake a claim for further game time over the league. While newer lads like Adam Hogan, John Conneally and Ian McNamara are also options. Oran Cahill dislocated his shoulder and needs an op so is unlikely to feature this year for the 20s or seniors. It will be interesting to see does Hogan get a run at corner back, he has excelled in duel against some very highly rated forwards at schools and underage level.

David Conroy has also returned to the panel, he has been excellent for Barefield the last couple of years and could be an option off the bench at midfield. A returning Aidan McCarthy along with Rodgers and Meehan being fully fit gives the forwards a bit of depth. Will be interesting to see what they do with McCarthy, talk is they have been using him at 14 in training. Will Duggan was a key player last year from an attitude and workrate perspective and as an outball he offered very little as a scoring threat. Will he be an impact player off the bench now or possibly moved to the half forward line to accomodate Rodgers or McCarthy at 14.

Any reports on Adam Hogan’s performance appreciated!

Played very well considering how poor the half backline and midfield were in front of him. Tipp probably created 10 goal chances and Clare half a dozen or so but both teams really lacked a killer instinct in their play.

Tipp were full of running off the shoulder and honest effort. Playing a style you would expect from a Liam Cahill team. Breen and O’Meara went well at 3 and 6 while Enda Heffernan looked solid as well. The big lad centre forward on the frees had a bit about him as well.

Clare looked as they have in all early season stuff so far in Lohan’s tenure exactly like a side still in pre season - 15 lads told to go out and hurl, no real shape or interplay to the forward play and lots of aimless hurling. Cian Nolan looked like a lad only fit to cut sally bushes at corner back while half back and midfield were well beaten and struggled with tipps workrate and running. Duggan worked hard while Rodgers and Mounsey clipped over a few nice scores as did Diarmuid Ryan. Clare forwards collectively shot a lot of wides from poor angles.

Thanks a mill - College stuff so wanted to get an idea of how he did!

Hogan was as good as Clare had on the field tbh. Your half-back line got absolutely wiped out, and not a huge presence at midfield really.

I thought Rodgers was excellent but himself, Mounsey & Conroy were all guilty of very poor shot selection, as you said. Mounsey is lively, but think he offers more out around the middle tbh. Could Rodgers have really gone at Gavin Ryan a few more times maybe?
