Meant to log this earlier this week. I took off on a long run there on Monday on a route I hadn’t previously run. About 20 mins in I was approaching a halting site. I was about 200 yards away from it when a 161 VW Golf pulled out of it and drove towards me. On seeing me they sped up and drove across the road in a direct line towards me. I had to jump into the ditch in order to avoid getting hit. They then stopped and while I was picking myself and cursing them they were roaring laughing and then sped off. Some travellers are just utter scum.

I know I shouldn’t but I am pissing myself laughing at that story.

Jumping into a ditch wasn’t the issue. It was the car speeding towards me. A miscalculation on the drivers part or mine would have resulted in me ending up in hospital or worse.
All parties wouldn’t be as lucky if the trick was repeated 10 times.

I noted in the report that this “hard luck story” has managed to amass 123 previous convictions by the age of 29. He has, naturally, had a difficult upbringing blah blah…
This of course relates to him being pissed out of his tree at 7.30am…Come on…
If I had my way I’d jail the rotten bastard for 20 years without remission/parole. Delinquents in this state are aware that the consequences are far too light.

Sgt O’Regan added that Stephen McCarthy had 123 previous convictions. They included eight assaults on a peace officer.
He was also drunk driving
Then he gets 3 and a half years and they take of one just because, and he get’s three months concurrent for a different sentence, as a buy one get one free type deal
