The Dublin final was a really good game. Some great point taking and a good standard throughout played at a very fast pace. Ballyboden were well battle hardened after the three games against Kilmacud. Difference was Boden took their goal chances. Judes could have had at least three more goals but hit the frame of the goal or blazed over. They were very unlucky in that regard.
The corner forward Andrew Kerin did most of the damage with 2-5. Don’t know much about this lad at all - maybe Scumpot could tell us a bit about him. Both full back lines took a bit of a beating. Michael McAuley who has been touted as a county prospect was good but no more. Andy Glover at midfield for Jude’s had a fine game and Brendan McMenamin played well as a link man between defence and attack.
Judes had a much better spread with 10 players scoring while Boden had only 4. Keaney got booked near the end for stepping on a Jude’s player - he knew what he was doing too although I don’t think there was much force in it at all. Still think he should have gone for it. Boden will win Leinster if they aren’t absolutely knackered after all the football they’ve played in the last month - they should also do the double in Dublin now.

reckon ballymun and ballyboden are a good eachway bets at them prices…both should defo be in last 8 as they are playing much weaker teams in next round…vincents aren’t going well at all…plunketts still have problems in defence…Crokes could still be tired after last year’s exertions…
go on the fookin boden…money in the pocket…
great win for them…were holding on a bit at the end…kerinsy has always been a class act…finally got the stage to show it today…hard luck to our neighbours judes…real gutsy effort and with more luck it could have been different…surprised they didn’t drop a man back in front of their own full back line as the dogs in the street know all bodens scores come from full forward line…all but 2 points again today…very naive…go on the fookin boden…:guns:
Portlaoise have beaten Arles Kilcruise in Laois SFC Final, 1-9 to 0-8. Arlss done the only thing they could against a team like the town, they played anti football. Even with the wind in the first half, they dropped a man back into their own half back line. Ross Munnelly had a great goal chance saved by Laois keeper Mickey Nolan and that was Arles’s chance. It was 3 points all at half time, but when Portlaoise had the wind, they took their chances. They were still only 2 up with a minute to go, but former Laois full back Colm Byrne came on at full forward, won a high ball and was taken down for a penalty. Former Celtic player Paul Cahillane absolutely buried it and that was it.
Portlaoise play Mattock Rangers next weekend in first round of Leinster, Zach Tuohy is off to Oz on Weds so he will be a big loss, but Portlaoise’s bench is absolutely ridiculous so they should be able to absorb that blow.
Tullamore won the Offaly SHC final today, with a 48 yo goalkeeper, Damien Fox. Former Offaly hurler Kevin Martin was manager, trainer and full forward for Tullamore and scored 1-1. Shane Dooley, son of Joe, done serious damage at corner forward. Tullamore won by 7.
dont look to shocked
this was the quater final of the cork junior hurling championsip and the east cork champions beating the city champions ( who are a football club first and really own hurl to stay fit ) is not too big a shock…
im not trying to undermine castlemartyr or anything but all they have won so far is a seriously devalued east cork hurling title, fair play they are in a county semi final but by all accounts the way they celebrated this in cobh today ud swear they d won an all ireland,
beating nemo in a hurling match is not something to get too worked up about…
one of the worst tipp county finals ever, brutal so it was.
Absolutely shocking game. Sars were well on top for the first half but still only went in 6 pts ahead, both sides wasted a lot of chances.
Drom could have got back in it at the start of the 2nd half but were so wasteful it was cruel.
Maher and Buckley were the best of the county boys on show, Lar was OK in patches but Callinan, Woodlock and Burke were at nothing.
Sars put a man marker on Callinan who just followed him around the field which killed of any threat he (and Drom) had. If Toome had done the same in the semi they would have beaten Thurles well today.

Fair play Scumpot, ye deserved it (just about) on the day
Far more economical in front of goal. Keaney was a cut above. Agree completely re our full back line. We were exposed all day and did nothing about it. We tried to do the same to ye but there were 3 or 4 defenders back on our 2 inside forwards. Thought we were coming very strong at the end but ye won the game when it was there to be taken.
We probably really missed at least 2 really strong (where we hit the crossbar) goal chances out of the 5 we got. Thought the ref was very lenient, lots of hefty challenges but it seemed like good manly stuff.
Devastated here to be honest. It might take us a long time to get back to the final again. We enjoyed our day in the final, the whole parish got behind the team. Wouldn’t say the same about Boden, there wasn’t a flag or sign to be seen around Knocklyon that would let you know the final was on.

Andy played well as did Niall O’ shoring up at 6 when he could, although that was a very very hefty challenge at the end and he could have walked for it. Thought Brendan Mc had a good game and it was a surprising substitution to take him off. If he set his mind to it he could be a good intercounty half forward. The margin was very close and could have gone either way at the end, but them’s the breaks
Would have preferred to see Jude’s win for this reason, and as well, Boden have become a bit of a “super club” like Kilmacud.
Keaney probably won’t be worth a fuck next summer, could be well burned out at the end of all this. Not as if Dublin are going to do much next summer anyway
Obviously a great win for Castlemartyr. Nemo were arguably the better team over the 60 minutes, but when Castlemartyr started playing hurling in ET they pulled away, the decision to move Barry Lawton to center-forward being the catalyst for the victory imo. Again, heart, determination and a decent bit of skill got us over the line.
Special mentions to Evan O’Keeffe (put over two frankly incredible points at very important moments), Brian Lawton (covered absolutely every inch of the pitch), Brian Smiddy (yet again, pointed a free under severe pressure) and Mick Daly (gave an exhibition of full-back play) are well deserved.
Cloughduv and Jimmy-Barry Murphy next! It’ll be '51 and '64 all over again…

You wouldn’t be a Dungourney man would you Mickee?
The fact that it was a replay that went into extra-time, the fact that we haven’t been this far in hurling for decades and that both games were quite dirty accounts for the post-match emotion.
