I guessed that, effin eddie-esque.
Sure you will. Tough guy.[/quote]
They got to the final in 95 in Fermoy v Midleton and were hammered. Midleton had Donal Og,Joe Deane,Mickey O Connell, Sully and few others who played senior for Cork. Incidently they had a cracking defender by the name of Stephen Curely from Tallow playing halfback. Was my MOTM that day.I think they lost narrowly to the North Mon in the semi final the yr before, with Bennett involved, who went on to win the All Ire.I remember reading at the time that Lismore CBS were the smallest ever school to get to a Harty final.
A hell 0f a pity from a Cork hurling pt of view that Denis Ring didn’t end up as Principal in Cork as Blackwater are already on their way to becoming a serious hurling academy. Waterford hurling will benefit big time over the coming yrs.
Yeah Curely was a great minor, tough as nails, was probably man of the match in a couple of minor matches as well, when we bet Tipp in 94 in Fermoy he was the best player on show for me, the team included Dan, Bennett, and young Ken McGrath, Derek McGrath ( a thrid year minor) and he was super. Not sure what became of him afterwards.
Lismore would only have had a couple of hundred pupils at the time.

They have 5 or 600 now i think. Must surely have joined with some other school.
Denis Ring is the king alright for sorting out hurling in a school.
Blackwater Communtiy School is an amalgamtion of the CBS, the presentation girls school and St. Annes Cappoquin… according to a quick google. 566 students at present, 282 boys.
A few more fixtures in Tipp this weekend
Saturday 24th October
Intermediate Football Semi Final
Newport v Ballyporeen - Ballyporeen should win this although they have been perennial losers at this grade since they were relegated from senior.
Sunday 25th October
Junior (A) Football Semi Final
Shannon Rovers v Carrick Swans - This is Carrick Swans 2nd team, so a tentative nod to Shannon Rovers.
County Minor (A) Football Final Replay
Ardfinnan v Loughmore Castleiney - By all accounts the first game was good. Ardfinnan for me, although Loughmore are chasing a football/hurling double.
Monday 26th October
Intermediate Football Semi Final
Carrick Swans v Thurles Sarsfields - Swan to win this, Sarsfields are a bit of an unknown, they did win the Mid though.
Junior (A) Football Semi Final
Clonakenny v Knockavilla Kickhams - Clonakenny to beat Knockavilla’s 2nd team.
Mullach what are Carrick Davins intermediate side like?
They are average enough to be honest Puke, They were lucky to get out of the South, only beating Fethard in the Semi-Final after a replay and losing the final to Moyle Rovers.
They beat Ballina in the County Semi-Final which was a minor shock.
The final against Arravale Rovers was even worse than the Senior Final.
Think they are a young enough team, with fast nippy forwards, not ideal for this time of year.
St Pats V Na Pairsaig in the Limerick Intermediate Football final tomorrow @ 2pm the Gaelic Grounds. Promises to be a dinger of a game.
Whitegate should win Clare at the weekend and are due to play them next weekend in a clare venue…Whitegate are a decent side and I would fancy them to get over Carrick and South Liberties as long as they don’t spend the week on the beer…They have the likes of Brendan Bugler and his brother, former Clare panelist Tom Holland and clare 21’s panelist George Waterstone and would more than hold their own at senior level…
must see if i can get odds on them winning munster at the weekend
Na Piarsaigh have a young team in this Runt, a few promising footballers?
St. Pat’s will beat Na Piarsigh. Only two hours ago i spoke with a member of their panel who confirmed as much with me.
Ya, a nice young footballing team. You may seen Eoin Hogan already, he got a few runs with the Limerick seniors in the champions this year. They also have a couple of lively wing backs. This will be a hard fought game and to be honest it wouldn’t surprise if Na Piarsaig turned Pats over.

I’d be surprised if Douglas are beaten in Munster. A good mix of serious athletes who can run the living sh1te out of a side and some skillful score getters. Aren’t Kilmoyley also involved in this competition?

Davins would have Ritchie McGrath, Lee Mackey and Willie O’Dwyer, the latter 2 won AI Minor with Tipp in 2006. McGrath won a couple of Munster Minors with Tipp also.
Can’t see them making any progress in Munster to be honest.
My Cork connectiosn tell me that Douglas aren’t all that great…time will tell i suppose, also Whitegate would have home advantage if they do meet in the final…
I’d rate them as a much better side than Blarney who walked the Munster last yr.Much better firepower. Going on past results the standard of intermediate in Cork and Clare is a good bit above the rest in Munster.
Clare intermediate championship might peak this year if Whitegate win it, the last three winners of it all made the county quarter finals this year…looking like ogonnalloe will go down from senior and they are struggling while the rest of the intermediate sides are average enough, past their peak or windy out…
As Albert said, they are a fine side, and they are better than Blarney. You can never tell of couse at this time of the year, especially in hurling. Plus Clare Intermediate hurling has a good record, but whoever is telling you Douglas aren’t great isn’t the best judge of intermediate hurling in the world.
Expect Valley Rovers to do well in Intermediate football, they’ll have a couple of their star players back and they are a massive team.
I expect cork teams to dominate the Munster clubs overall with victories expected in Junior Football, Junior Hurling, Intermediate hurling, Intermediate Football and probably Senior Hurling. Not too sure about Clon in the football.
