Club Championships 2009
As Albert said, they are a fine side, and they are better than Blarney. You can never tell of couse at this time of the year, especially in hurling. Plus Clare Intermediate hurling has a good record, but whoever is telling you Douglas aren’t great isn’t the best judge of intermediate hurling in the world.

.
I was told that they would only be a very average side at senior level…

How did Blarney fare at senior level this year out of interest

Struggled, won a relegation game, only for Castlelyons being so crap they would have gobe straight back down. They are fairly small and very young. they were a massive surprise to win last year, they had better teams in the past that couldn’t win it.
Douglas could win a county senior in next 5-6 years. They are in a totally different position to Blarney, they have a massive underage structure and have guys on every Cork development squad. They also won without a couple of very good players, and are physically way better prepared for senior.

Blarney just about escaped relegation. They are v poor by senior standards, far too reliant on Colin Murphy, who couldn’t start witht the county minors. To be honest they are a team of mucklers who caught Douglas on the hop due to their football commitments last yr.
Douglas would be an average senior club side, but then every senior side in Cork is average when compared to Newtown.

Sars are a fine side, as are Erins Own and Midleton are coming good. After that you are probably correct though.

Sars are a fine side indeed.

Go wan the fucking Sars.

Wexford Senior B Football Champions 2009.

well played, ah lovely:clap:

It depends on how high you set the bar. By the standards of the likes of Newtown,Portumna,Ballyhale all club hurling side in Cork are miles off the pace. Sars won a v poor championship last yr and couldn’t even beat a v poor DLS side. I can’t see them or anyone else beating Newtown in the forseeable future as long as Newtown stay interested.Erins Own are finished unless if like Newtown this yr they can get 4or 5 new fellas to add to the side. Given their decline at underage I can’t see it happening. Midleton? You must be taking the piss, they are currently a million miles away from Newtown.

A million miles, like Sars were 2 years ago. To say Sars won a poor county is typical of the shite dribbled out by jealous neighbours, are you from a close by club by anychance? Or getting carried away by one Newtown performance when Sars didn’t turn up, at all.

Your right about Newtown being way ahead this year, but they won’t keep that game up for more than another year, they can’t, i don’t think an amatuer side can. Midleton have an excellent young team, when they put on a bit of weight and toughen up they’ll be a force.

Cork in general is a good bit off Ballyhale, Portumna etc, but jesus Albert, most would believe they are some of the best club sides…ever! Well from my memory Portumna are the best i’ve seen. Birr would be up there as well, but the didn’t demolish teams the way Port do.
Every county is way off Port and Ballyhale, even their own counties by the looks of it.
No, i’m basing this on the players i kno0w playing, the people who go to these matches and results from 16 & 1/2 and last years Harty. There probably is betting, but i wouldn’t know where to find it.

Ya, but doesn’t mean they’ll be Minors, there are 60 guys on that development squad.

Whats wrong with Finbarr? Thats my first name.:D
Half those players were on the Minor squad last year.

Castlemartyr/Cloughduv in Pairc ui Rinn tomorrow?
Yeah Curely was a great minor, tough as nails, was probably man of the match in a couple of minor matches as well, when we bet Tipp in 94 in Fermoy he was the best player on show for me, the team included Dan, Bennett, and young Ken McGrath, Derek McGrath ( a thrid year minor) and he was super. Not sure what became of him afterwards.

Lismore would only have had a couple of hundred pupils at the time.
curley has being playing hurling in boston since 2000/2001.

Dublin Junior game finished Good Counsel 2-13, Kilmacud Crokes 2-11
Ya i hope they do (Kerry). Hopefully they will avoid Tipp and Waterford, who are expected to be very strong. Would be great if they won a game.

Thurles are the favourites alright Hang, followed closely by DLS and Midleton. Midleton quitely fancy themselves i believe, and the clubs in and around Midleton are strong this year at Minor, but they may be a bit too light for a team like Thurles.
thurles not as strong as last year, not surprising as that thurles team was easily one of the finest harty cup winning teams that i can remember. their achievement is all the more worthy as they did it without their centre back barry who will be close to making tipp senior panel in next year or two.

as for this years harty its between ard scoil, midleton and dls. these have being the best teams at that age group all the way up. colmans have a useful team aswell. pity that midleton, ard scoil and colmans all ended up in the same group but it will certainly stand to who ever comes out of that group.

St Pats won the limerick intermediate football title…heard their was a bit of bother after it*…

*the lad who told me this is an idiot so there mightn’t have been either

could be more if they win it. Stephen moore and alan hayes will be very close to cork minor team/panel this year. in addition centre back moynihan and centreforward healy are very decent and would have being on the fringes of a minor set up last year. in fact healy played midfield with mionor footballers

Barry Lawton possibly as well. Had a stormer against Cashel.

Apparently the Under-17 Hurling squad was on the Evening Echo during the week, if someone could put it up that would be great.

I expected St. Pats to win this one and they duly obliged. They’re a good side who probably deserved to go up last year.

Heard about that schomozzle alright, harmless hi-jinks by all accounts…
