Club Championships 2010

Laz tipped this up last night I believe.

actually probably the best thing that could happen Joe Canning and his teams in the long term. Has an injury that needs a rest by all accounts.

Portumna aren’t a young team and have very little coming through the underage set up…They played in the under 21 B championship last year in Galway, despite having Canning in their team

Loughrea won 1-16 to 1-14 points…Port went 25 minutes without scoring, got their goal with the last puck of the game

Ballgunner won their replay handy

Never knew that, he must have done serious damage at that level! Would that be true what I said about him needing a rest though? heard he had some kind of groin injury or something?

Duignans coaching has worked wonders for Portumna!

Loughrea were well on top today. Joe needs a rest and a kick in the arse, not sure in which order.

Has the makings of a very exciting county final.

Probably needs the rest but he is in LIT again this year AFAIK…

Oulart are as short as 10/11 for Leinster now. I don’t recall such a stupid price in hurling in years.

St. Finbarrs beat Carbery Rangers 1-11 to 0-08 tonight in County semi-final. They now play Nemo in the final, all City affair.

St. Vincents and Clyda Rovers drew in one Premier Int. semi final, while Newcestown hammered Mallow in the other.

Cloyne are in Junior final after beating Lyre. They play Whites Cross in the final.

Goals at vital times won Kilmacud the Dublin title today. Brigid’s were a point up at half time. At 0-5 apiece the brigid’s defence suddenly stopped and three Kilmacud players walked through on goal. Corkery drew the keeper and Adrian Morrissey I think it was only had to palm it to an empty net. Brigid’s then cut a four point deficit to one only for Morrissey to be hauled down. Vaughan converted the resulting penalty on the rebound after a good initial save by Shane Supple. That was pretty much the end of the matter and Kilmacud went on for a comfortable win. Vaughan only came on as a sub but looked lively - kicked a monster free with his first touch and also scored from play. Brian Kavanagh from Longford is pretty much their fulcrum up front though. The latter stages of the Dublin championship haven’t been brilliant but they did enough and they should probably win Leinster with their strength in depth if they are up for a fight.

Supple is definitely an option on the goalkeeping front for Dublin but we are well served in this department already so he would likely need Cluxton to lose form to break in. Can kick 45s as well as he showed today.

Gripping draw in the KK junior county final. County minor Jason Corcoran with the equalizer with the last puck of the match. More tomorrow

Locke would you go away to fuck, ye havent produced a good senior team in KK since 2009

Since a what Kid? Think you need to lay off the sauce

Colm Cooper will be the new Kerry captain after Dr Crokes beat Austin Stacks 1-15 to 0-11.

Macroom won the Intermediate Football title after an excellent game yesterday, 1-10 to 0-09. Fintan Gould, Rory Buckley and Sean Kiely were their stars, all expected to be on Cork panel next year. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they went straight up and won the Premier. 2 penalties in the last 7 mins decided it, Macroom scored theirs after a rebound, while Andrew O’ Brien (who really was MOTM) missed Kildorrerys with 2 left. Good standard of football, better than the games i saw at the higher grade this weekend.

The hurling turned out to be a decent game as well, but i very foolishly left with 2 mins left as i was parked in a bad spot, Kilbrittain were just after going 5 points up and were clearly the better side in last 15. Read paper this morning to see Ballygarvan had scored 1-02 to draw in the end, Ger Spillane going up to get 1-01 from centre back. I should have known better, they have a history of comebacks.

A slight aside, its being reported Sean Og has retired.

Fenians survived in Kilkenny senior.
Freshford back down to intermediate.

Papers today suggesting that a few of them were being retired rather than retiring.

Which paper Julio? Might check it out.
