@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy instead of throwing away an old childrens sandpit last year I took it back to the wild part of my garden and buried into the ground. Gave it a gravel and earth base and filled it with rain water. Have a family of frogs living in it now.

A reservoir of legionnaires disease.

Midgies galore around it or frogs taking care of that?

How do you know they are from France?

Another victory for the Right To Repair group.
The French leading the way…

Wouldn’t have happened when Maggie was around.

As @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy would say, “another victory in Europe” for the Right To Repair group.

This is a huge victory.
The amount of unused chargers lying around the place was unreal.
Will we ever get the easily replaceable battery again?
Well, that’s up to the consumers. You and me…

I had a pair of Docs about 10 year ago. The sole fell of the left one.
God nor man couldn’t get it stuck back on…

Jasus, when did Docs become knows as DMs?

I don’t have a problem with glyphosate as such, but if it’s being sprayed in public places there should be warning signs up. Same with farmers spraying near roads.

I was up in Bloom there during the summer and the article here got me thinking about something I intended to post back then. Perhaps I did. I can’t remember but a search gives me nothing.

Anyway, I stopped for a coffee in the picnic area and just about managed to get the corner of a seat at a table with two middle aged Irish women and their four kids. As it happened I was next to one of these clearly labelled recycling centres. There was plenty of them around.

So not having much to do I couldn’t help but observe the recycling habits (% success rates) of the general Irish public. You can call me what you want, but here’s a sample of what I saw on a hot June day. I didn’t ask people their age, race or ask to see their passport, I’m just guessing.

Middle aged Irish men in shorts probably with the wife and kids, just killing the day. 20%
Middle aged gay couples. 100%
Busy middle aged mothers. 30%
Young girls in groups. 40%
Old age pensioners. 100%
Dublin scobes. 0%
Asian. 90%
Eastern Europeans. 80%
Irish teenagers. 20%
People carrying plants. 100%
People with rucksacks. 100%

Generally the older people were and the less Irish they looked, the better they were at recycling. The two women I sat with just left all their rubbish on the table. It was quickly just wrapped into a ball by the next family who sat down and thrown into the closest bin. A don’t blame them, I blame the women.

So much for the teenagers being environmentally concerned. They are more than happy to skip school and have their parents drop them off to a climate protest in a SUV

The Greens don’t seem to have their priorities right.

So recycling is a cod.

Theres also a new levy on your bins to pay for recycling, on the bins you pay for, to be recycled yet dumped into landfill or incinerated

Are you suggesting our recycling bins are going into a landfill? Who is to blame for this? Lets take down big plastic.

Of the plastics we recycle in the home, yeah, it pretty much is a cod.

I was involved with setting up a recycling program through the schools in Oz. It was taking back our reusable shopping bags and recycling it into playground equipment. Heavy duty plastic like nwpp was grand.

Other lady involved decided to do a spin off and take all plastics. Thought she knew better than modern tech. She convinced the big boys to back her RED program, offering them a utopian idea.

Long story short, all she was doing was storing the plastic bags in a warehouse. Warehouses caught fire. Big big trouble

Here’s a pretty decent explainer of the situation and the hoodwinking involved for decades:

I’m sorry @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy , hope we can still remain e-pals
