Cool Sites

If you’ve any interesting websites to share throw em up here.

I came across this one today. It’s like one big Jukebox of a yoke.

I’m a bit of a boring internet geek and I don’t really have any cool sites to recommend. I just browse my few football, GAA and other sport sites primarily.

For all those who miss Ben and know a thing or two about golf can log on here

Ran by a guy who gets dagger looks at the moment for sporting B&A flags out the sides of his car. Fook em!

Everything else is just a cheap immitation

Same as myself usually everyday. Today I branched out.
Might even have a look at Locke’s site for the first time even though I’m registered there quite a while now.
Oh wait, it’s past 4.30-nearly home time. Maybe tomorrow Locke.

would often get those stupid emails (you know the ones, type your atm pin number in backwards to call the cops, how to get he most from petrol pumps, the government is watching you etc) and this site basically sets it straight on all the e rumours. Its American based, so at the moment is full of Obama/McCain stuff, but some good facts and myths put to bed in the rest of it. Doctored pictures and other things that get sent around as fact are shot to pieces.

I enjoy the following websites but they’re not to everyone’s taste:

www.guardian.co.uk - easily the best website of any newspaper. Very comprehensive with a good balance between paper stuff and blog stuff.
www.engadget.com - all about new technology
thefreewave.blogspot.com/search/label/Indie - the starting point for downloading music from the web. You can start there and move about the web for hours.

Damn it! Another one slipped through the net…

I’m hoping for an upsurge of activity for the Ryder Cup (I wouldn’t mind but I’m away for the week coming up to it! At least I’m on the beer…

Never heard of that but presume it’s a ripoff of www.snopes.com

they seem to be similar alright, but maybe snopes is a rip off of the other one! truthorfiction is a bit easier to navigate and read.

Ah I won’t hear of it. Snopes is the master of those sites - it’s around for years.

CG, seeing as it’s casual Friday, have auld blackie on me today and it’s causing quite the stir. I don’t know if it’s the fragrant advertising its putting out there or the fragrance coming from it since I haven’t washed it yet. Anyhew word is spreading.

Just type r5 into the search for the newer films for DVD quality.

There’s a fantastic site - youarenotsosmart.com - that is basically a series of articles on massive gaps in human thinking.

Some great ones are:

Confirmation Bias

Procrastination

The Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy

Hindsight Bias

This is a particularly good one for all internetters:

The Backfire Effect

The Misconception: When your beliefs are challenged with facts, you alter your opinions and incorporate the new information into your thinking.

The Truth: When your deepest convictions are challenged by contradictory evidence, your beliefs get stronger.
