Coral Eclipse

If the weather holds up and the ground is in any way firm this could be a cracking race. Hope Georgie blows him away but I’d imagine Authoized is much shorter odds. Anyone know?

Gorgeous George an Eclipse doubt
04/07/2007 - 08:10:59

George Washington is not certain to take his place in the line-up for Saturdays Coral-Eclipse.

Aidan OBriens mercurial talent reappeared with an encouraging fourth in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, after enduring an unsuccessful first season at stud.

He had been due to take on Authorized in a fascinating renewal of Sandowns 10-furlong Group One showpiece this weekend, but the current wet spell has put the clash in doubt.

And while nothing has been conclusively decided just yet, OBrien says the Ballydoyle team will be monitoring the situation very closely.

George Washington and Duke Of Marmalade are not certain to run in the Eclipse on Saturday, he told the Racing Post.

Were going to watch the weather forecast carefully in the Sandown area over the next few days.

1/2 & 7/1

I wonder how much of that 7/1 is due to the weather. Hope he runs and I might have a sentimental fiver on him at 7/1.

No value

O’Brien said last year after Araafa beat George at the Curragh that he would never run him again on soft ground or worse.

If its good ground or better (unlikely i know) and George was in the mood, he would destroy Authorised over 1m2f

George probably wont run. Definitley an worth e/w @ 7/1 if he was though.

Anyone know where Sandown is in England?

Its in a place called Esher, Surrey which I believe is just outside London.

No rain on the BBC forecast so. It’s probably a question of how quickly it dries.

George has been declared for the race.
