I’m really not too worried about Limerick’s league results. I think the form was relatively good in the matches we tried a leg at and a lot of players’ individual form looked promising to me.

We drew with cork first day out. Cork took off towards the end of the league and limerick downed tools. I don’t think the form of either team towards the end of the league is in any way reflective of a difference in standard.

If I was setting up for Tipp puckouts, I’d be letting ye go to the full-back line; sitting the full-forward line relatively deep, ready to engage as they approach the '45 and seeing if Tipp can break through the press.

See how we get on and push a bit higher if ye are getting scores off it but I would have my doubts.

Similarly, depending on the make-up of the Limerick half-forward line, I’d probably push fairly high if I was Tipp and see how you get on. It is risky, as you say, Limerick’s movement on puckouts tends to be fairly decent but we are unlikely to have electric pace there.

Now if you’re getting absolutely cleaned, you’re probably sitting off again and allowing one of the FB line to take it (presumably not Nash) but I think it’s worth starting like that.

Limerick will almost certainly do that especially in Q3. It’s unlikely Tipp will go full court press, it’s not in this managements plan A or B.

Semple Stadium is a shit hole. Great field, great history, Sean Tracy pipe band, Munster Championship tingle, but it’s a shit hole.

The shit hole status is obviously accelerated by the contrast to PUC… even The GG’s and the relatively new north stand, Walsh Park and it’s upgrade…

Ennis and thurlas are antiquated shit holes. Having said all that, a full house in Ennis for a tight game with the People’s Champions is hard bate for atmosphere.
