Patrick Horgan doesnt have an ireland medal but he was an outstanding hurler. Ditto Ciaran Carey
The few Limericks who love poking jib at Horgan for been a stat padder donât reference that he shot a score to send the munster final to extra time this year and scored the penalty in injury time to deny Limerick victory in the roiund robin last year and keep Cork in the championship. They poke fun at him for not delivering an all ireland
A whole team of Limerick hurlers failed to win an all ireland in 1994 and 1996. Cork collasped over a whole half this year, Limerick managed it in about 6 minutes in 1994. Cork lost with 14 men in 2025, Limerick played with an extra man in 1996 and lost.

Look Horgan is the top hurling championship scorer of all time. I dont see any great harm in him getting a civic reception, doubt he sought the honour

He was always going to get something tbf but individual awards in team sports never sit right with me.
Mainly because this cork team stopped the five in a row all Ireland bid and 7 in a row Munster final bid.
Itâs incredibly annoying as a Limerick fan because if you took out their results against Limerick they arenât much good at all and have lost two all Irelands in terrible fashion too.
