Healy is a big loss.
I think the balance is possibly best if itâs HOC at 12 and B Walsh at 13. I could see them going with the same team in the league final.
If heâs right, I think Harnedy has to start against Limerick in Round 2 then.

A tough defeat but a brave performance which sets up a crunch game for our u20s next week.
I was impressed with Corkâs tackling and work rate after the opening 10 minutes (where a few players looked a bit dazzled).
Forwards worked tremendously hard, and the backline were brave to attack the ball in the second half against a classy forward line (altgough too brave on one occasion).
We were well set up on Tippâs puckouts, with a very strong spell in the first half after 10 minutes.
We got enough breaks from the ref I felt but we needed a goal in the closing stages to really instill a jolt of belief. Needed to find Finn OâBrien a couple of more times, who looked v dangerous from the little ball he got.
Iâd be pushing M Barrett up to midfield to use his scoring ability (not a natural fb line player although he was clearly tagged for OâDonoghue and did v well tonight).
A bit of indiscipline from Cork was frustrating. The players were clearly well up for it, but you have to strike a balance - which wasnât shown in one or two key moments. The red card was absolutely the right call from the referee but he was too fussy overall in my view.
Thatâs sadly a very, very good first outing for Tipp. The last two Munster teams that won the AI u20 had very poor performances in the opening game. I think they got a serious, serious test tonight and are likely the team to beat in Munster.
It would be great to win one âagainst the headâ and I think with one or two more of the 18s added into the team, Cork are very capable from what I saw tonight.
A few observations about the U-20 game:
Barry Walsh would want to be either told to shoot low or pass the ball to someone in a better position, these head height shots arenât it unless they are absolute bullets.
JMâs strike was clueless, Gardeâs tackle was even worse. Shame as Murphy in particular would have been a huge player in the second half to carry ball. Thought otherwise Garde played well and should fit in somewhere next day out.
Maybe I missed something but Hannon looked outmatched in the middle of the pitch and I was surprised he lasted so long. Maybe a year too early for him physically.
Game was lost completely in the 40-50 minute period, won absolutely no ball in our half-forwards and Euan Murray came into the game in a big way.
Heavin made a poor but honest enough mistake for the goal but the number 8 fumbling the ball under the goals was a killer. Thought Fitzgerald was excellent. Could do with OâCallaghan back at 3 but the fb line was pretty good in general.
Need a bit more from the forwards from play, particularly BW and BOF. JM showed some great leadership throughout but we were too reliant on him for puck-outs. Finn OâBrien didnât get enough ball, he is very crafty and will create goal chances. The lad from Douglas was on the periphery for the most part, surprised Mark OâBrien isnât at least on the bench. TBF theyâll get more space in the next three games.
We brought on Deane and OâSullivan when we are struggling for puck-outs, need one more honest big ball-winner to bring on. Donovan from the Minors last year was pretty agricultural but heâd break up some ball with ten minutes to go, as would Mark OâBrien. Balance of the subs not quite right.
Limerick were pretty decent three years ago at Minor, but we have the advantage of one game played. Big issue with not winning is the likelihood that Clare/Tipp/Waterford will only get better from here on out.
Iâd say there could be a few changes next day out, but at least Garde in for JM with Ben Walsh midfield. I wouldnât mind seeing Craig OâSullivan starting and presumably OâCallaghan, if in anyway fit, will surely get gametime.
Who is Hannon?
Noonan I suppose he meant
Yeah, meant Noonan.
The pressure was on tonight to get the win and to be fair, after 10 minutes Cork produced a decent performance.
The scoreboard was harsh on Limerick at half-time. Walshâs 20 yard free was a real sucker for them I think. Limerick did a lot right in that first half. They tackled well and were moving the ball, on balance, better than Cork were.
I think Cork could have been up by nearly 20 points with 10 minutes to go. A good number of goal chances were squandered as well as decent shooting opportunities in favour of over elaborative play.
A lot of distinct positives. We were sharp on breaking ball again (especially in second half) and the fullback line were aggressive throughout and played smart hurling.
This team carries a very real direct threat with a sizeable forward line. Walsh, OâFlynn, Murphy, OâBrien and Biggane are all big, althletic men well able to compete for ball. There is a likeable aggression too in each of their play.
The scoreboard ultimately told that this was the key difference - Cork made several goal chances due to this threat from direct ball.
Loads to work on too, of course. We were far too willing to run into bodies and try to break the tackle early on in the game. The missed chances were again frustrating. I donât think Clare or Tipp would have missed as many.
A tough outing away to Waterford next with qualification to the semi final on the line.
Handy win against a bang average Limerick team who produced nothing close in on goal.
Thought the 20 minute sub was strange as OâBrien had won some decent ball but apparently it was an injury per the Echo?
We started hitting it short and then long into OâFlynn towards the end of the first half which worked a lot better than static ball on top of Biggane/Murphy.
Biggane worked very hard but is leggy and kept going down cul de sacs. Need to have lads around him when he wins the ball. In contrast JM can get away from his man and find a free player.
Barrett was the pick of the backs, was well on top at full-back throughout.
Jack OâBrien is a classy hurler, hopefully heâll begin to influence games more and more, got on a good bit of ball in the second half.
With Murphy back and Garde surely to start, youâd fancy us to beat Waterford considering how poor their record is against us. Would that put us into the semi automatically?
Ryan Denny any use lads? I see heâs thrown in his lot with Portlaoise, they love an import.
Played intermediate with Dungorney. Decent player.
Teaching in Chriost RĂŹ. Critchley doesnât miss that sort of tap in.
He is nothing special.
He could Be in Laois
Interesting Cork team. Mullins starts at half back, Harnedy and Buckley in for B Walsh and Hugh OâConnor.
Wouldnât have thought Mullins was near it tbh. Good to see Harnedy back
Not exactly starring for the Glen.
Ive had 50 on Cork after seeing that team. Jump on now before the odds flip in about 40 mins
Brave heart
Anything would be a helps to The Town, they pulled some lad from Limerick and Kerry the past 18 months.
Donât think he played underage for Cork. Just a decent intermediate club hurler.
