Cork v Sligo

Rivalling Cork v Limerick from a couple of years ago as the worst game of football I’ve ever seen.

Michael Cussen is crap. He has no footballing skills whatsoever.

Sligo’s 0 man full-forward line is an innovative tactic but it’s obviously useless. Spineless first half from them. They haven’t even turned up.

I presume Eamon O’Hara will be getting a slating in the media for his baiting of O’Connor in the corner on the half hour mark. Rubbing his head and slagging him off into his ear after he loses the ball is just the sort of thing we need to stamp out of the game. I blame the influence of the Dubs.

I was at it. It was dire. Sligo are much better than that though. O’Hara was despicable in the second half. A complete prima donna. He was playing at midfield but never tracked back. Fucking twat

The second game was good. Meath played well without anyone excelling. Tyrone were guilty of some shocking wides towards the end which could have levelled it

Yeah second game was much better but the standard of shooting was poor. Even Bray who started very well was kicking badly in the second half. Class finish from Geraghty for his goal though.

You serious?

Yeah that was a class finish. Not saying it was a difficult chance or anything but most forwards would have just caught the ball and then wondered what to do.

It looked horrible though. Cavanagh’s goal was superb. Thought you would draw attention to that first

Cavanagh’s was a great run but he overcarried and the keeper made it easy for him. Still he does that consistently so it’s no fluke and he’s a cracking runner with the ball. Pity he couldn’t do it again in the second half when he should have passed the ball outside at the end.

Overcarried?

I thought there may have been a hint of switching the ball from one hand to the other but I wouldn’t have said he overcarried it

Thought McMahon at full back for Tyrone was the best player on the pitch

Its Cork and Meath now right?

Meath should win easily

Yeah - there was both a switch and an overcarry. After 4 steps he went to pass it and decided not to which was when he switched hands and then he took a couple more steps before shooting. It wasn’t the worst offence in the world but it was definitely too many steps - one of those ones that the ref is probably only about to whistle for when he sees the ball in the back of the net so he just lets it go anyway.

Can’t say I noticed too much of McMahon from a defensive point of view. Saw him bursting forward a couple of times alright but I wasn’t paying that much attention to him. McMenamin was decent alongside him but the other lad (McGall?) got a bit of a roasting early on anyway.

It’s Cork and Meath alright and I agree Meath should win it handy enough.

It’s lookin like a Dublin - Meath final to me tbh.

You refer to the second game. It was in fact the third game.

Oh yeah sorry Humbug.

Surely farmer cannot be suggesting Geraghty’s finish wasn’t class.

This guy cracks me up completely. I’d actually love to meet him some time just to laugh at him.

In the majority of such instances the attacker would grab the ball into his hands with his momentum taking him into the 'keeper. Then the covering defenders would get back, crowd around him and force him to overcarry or fist the ball back out to a team-mate on the '21.

The awareness and execution by Geraghty was majestic in its simplicity.

Darren Fay’s display was also supreme. I hope Meath go on and win it now.

Saw Geraghty’s goal again on TV on Sunday night and it was indeed well taken. Improvisation is the word.

On the Fay issue, I think he was ok. Not fantastic just ok. Doesn’t command his box (!) nearly in the same way that Seamus Quinn did. Fay is not fit to lace his boots frankly.

If you think Joe McMahon was a more impressive full back than Fay on Saturday, which you have suggested on this thread, then you need some form of psychiatric help. Fay was masterful and was rightly given the Man of The Match award by the panel after the game.

Reading between the lines: apology accepted Farmer.
