Coronavirus - Here for life (In high population density areas)

Only so many times lads can run off steam kid on the lockdown 5k challenge thread.

Lads need to embrace some meditation

Oxford are already working on their new vaccine mate apparently to cope with the mutations. I hear you regarding the UK and EU opening up and us following their lead.

I just donā€™t see it going back to February 2020 until at least mid 2022. Sincerely hope Iā€™m wrong.

The fear porn from RTE and all other media has people frightened out of their minds. We are at the mercy of Tony Holohan and Co.

no- way too conservative
we should be opening once everyone over median age of death is vaccinated
ok ā€¦ within 1 stdev of that maybe
so 83-4(maybe)
lets say open everything once everyone over 77 ( to be ultra safe) is vaccinated
the rest donā€™t give a fuck

also proof that we (tony) want to keep the virus alive in the community

Itā€™ll become more clear in the next couple months how it will go.

I think that consensus will emerge on what we can have and when. I mean, if Germany decides we can have bars and clubs when we hit 70% then everyone follows suit.

Mediation is great - but lets say this goes on another 12 months,

What good is it to peoples small businesses that are gone at that stage forever.

The PUP is grand at 350 a week, that wonā€™t last - not a hope.

Did I genuinely just read a post where one clown actually thinks we can stop a coronavirus from mutating?

Youā€™re dead right - hopefully some sense will prevail there.

Its our only hope really. Thereā€™s no political will here to take a brave stance on it unfortunately.

youā€™re 100% correct
obviously hope youā€™re/Iā€™m wrong but optics suggest otherwise
i pitched early doors that you wont see reasonable crowds in football stadia till the beginning of the 2022/23 football league season- based on the behaviour of NEPHET and trends we see i have no reason to doubt that claimā€¦

i feel sorry for the lads who genuienly believe that making these sacrifices is helping and theyā€™re working towards some reward by adhering to all the lockdown criteriaā€¦none of us have any control in the outcome of this once the current mode of operation is followed and we choose to keep the virus alive in the community and decide that peopleā€™s mental health, livelehoods, family life, well being and the well being of children pale into signifigance to the imprtance of low case numbers for a bug that is virtually harmless to those under 75

You are wrong. Unfortunately. It wonā€™t be going back to February 2020, period.

What do you predict going forward?

My footix trip to Barca in January 2020 was extremely well timed

do you think so ironmouth?
im thinking that by 2022/23 weā€™ll be in a L2 for a prolonged period but then itā€™ll drift away

a whole degree course of students wont see a university
Itll be interesting to see some numbers on violence towards women and children at home and if studies are done to quantify the impact on family life and childrenā€™s and teenagers development both educationally and socially
for some kids the worst place they can be is at home
the woke brigade dont know anything about this tho - they know nothing about raising a family, having to scrimper for bills , know what its like to see teenagers bullying their parents, fellas suicidal because they literally cannot spend another second at home, fellas loosing their jobsā€¦ nothing

what do fuck do harris, donnollly et al know about these things and planet twitter who cheer them on- they know fuck all

I think the mood amongst people is shifting tbh. I have talked to quite a few people recently who have followed restrictions to the letter and are at their wits end now. I donā€™t think this level 5 under its current guise is sustainable for much more than 2 or 3 more weeks. Even that is an enormous ask. The money is running out and I think mental health has got more of an airing recently in the msm than heretofore. I dont think weā€™ll be packed into the gaelic grounds by any means but we will be in some form of level 1 or 2 by summer. Possibly level 4 on March 5th with level 3 by Easter. I was glass half empty for a while largely because I was reading zero covid commentariat on twitter and people looking for more lockdowns but what I am seeing on the ground is totally at odds with that. The wheel has turned and thereā€™s no going back for the lockdown fascists now. Zero covid was the dead cat bounce for them. Book a holiday in the west of Ireland in June and have something to look forward to.

The only focus on mental health in the media was spurious claims of Long Covid impacting mental health.

Once the clocks go forward and weather gets better they can forget it.

Yes I saw that but I have read some articles and seen plenty of mentions in media of mental health fragility associated with lockdowns albeit about 6 months too late. I would like to see it given a proper airing though.

Hopefully mate, thing in everyones favour is the weather will improve and following that cases will drop even regardless of the vaccines effectiveness.

Iā€™d have my doubts that social distancing and masks etc are going to be withdrawn anytime soon though, and as sure as summer comes winter will follow.

Iā€™m not optimistic to be honest.

that was sick actually what they did

Look back to 2020 pal, we all got to go and watch two club matches (200 total) and the carpet was pulled.

I donā€™t see it being any different this year.
