I have a PhD in history.

Up until March I was a cunt… but in the last 6 months i’ve become a bigger cunt.

For all the deaths we’ve had since the pandemic started in March - close to 1800 poor souls now, only 95 of those people ever went into ICU,

I find that figure baffling. This is confrmed in the below from NPHET themselves updated to yesterday. Makes no sense to me.

https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/casesinireland/epidemiologyofcovid-19inireland/

Page 11 on the report gives details re the deaths.

Edit: just 42% of the people who died were hospitalised, that is crazy.

I must be missing something.

No, it makes sense. About 60% died in nursing homes, and people that were hospitalized were only sent to ICU if they had a realistic chance of recovery. 80% of those who entered ICU survived.
I think that’s how you interpret it.

Most of the elderly don’t die in ICU generally, it makes sense.

The hospital numbers are a bit lower than normal certainly but we send far too many elderly people into hospitals in their last few days.

Thats fair enough, does make you wonder about our ICU capacity though - I just found the figure of 95 since March to be extremely low vs 5 million people. Do we know how many ICU beds we have altogether?

We’d a couple of hundred at the start of this

440 is current capacity. It went to 500 during Covid with all the private hospitals. I can check again but around 150 of those beds were still free at the peak.

Can stretch to 812.

The health service coped fine with Covid in the end.

With improved treatments, the requirement to use those beds is falling as well.

I think this just goes back to the mistake at the start (in nearly all countries) was focusing on hospitals and not aged care facilities. The Aussies managed to fuck this up again with their Melbourne outbreak, the deaths they’re accumulating are coming predominantly from those places.

I never thought you could become more of a cunt.

Bigtime, its disgraceful when you think about it. Close to 1000 deaths in those homes. Savage negligence really.

They just seem to have been an after thought.

Makes the lockdown questionable also in terms of its results - it completely failed in all honesty.

If you’re not moving forward you’re going backwards kid

He moved to Cork to improve his cuntish behaviour. Working well so far for him.

I don’t think it was. There were multiple factors that drove it. The WHO stats on deaths was 3.5% (which RTÉ were still quoting a couple of weeks ago ) and Ferguson’a model scared them.

Bergamo and Wuhan alerted them for the need for hospitals to be tooled up. They were dealing with limited resources in terms of PPE. They chose to give what they had to hospitals.

In terms of things like visiting, I can understand why it happened. It is still wrong to leave the elderly without family visitors and they were acutely aware of that.

Mistakes were made for sure but really they happened everywhere.

There isn’t much excuse for it now. Operational issues like agency staff had to be sorted out. PPE was brought in etc.

The Aussies completely screwed it up with 3 months extra to prepare.

He was always a cunt but now he’s become a wanker too. The brand is on the slide

Brands are for insecure people. I do my own thing.

Come on lads, let’s beat this Covid fucker. Wash your hands, respect social distancing.
