Thereā€™s a good few of these I only work them out by working back from the answer. Thereā€™s an odd one where even if you know the answer, you canā€™t figure how they got there from the clue.
I try to put up oneā€™s youā€™d have a chance of, or ones that are cleverer than just knowing the formula.

I used do Crosaire years ago, I found the only way to figure out the rules/tricks initially was by keeping the newspaper and working back from the answers the next day. Even then there would be a few odd ones.

I could finish the crosaire usually, then lost track of it. The torygraph one is good as, like the crosaire, it has one setter and you get the hang of their thinking. The Times setter changes daily, making it a good bit harder.
