No doubt. He can win what he likes
Healy 7th. Been a while since an Irishman finished top 10? Kelly?
Healy is fucking great bit of stuff. One of these days, he deserves a big one.
Could win Lombardy
He needs to spare the attacks. He must have attacked 4 or 5 times in the last few km. O’Connor attacked once and got away.
That’s the thing about him. You only get one bullet. He’s still a bit green.
Just looking down the results list. Archie Ryan did well, finished 21st.
The boy wonder taking the piss in the Giro Dell’Emilia at the moment
Dunbar in the break at Lombardy
Stephen Roche interview with Ian O’Riordan in todays IT
He doesn’t seem like the sharpest tool in the box.
When I read he lost money after investing in a new luxury car manufacturer I got the impression he’s for the birds.
His problem is that he wasn’t half as smart as he thought he was. He’d argue with himself. I wouldn’t think he left the peloton with a lot of friends either.
Read Dan Martin’s autobiography recently. It’s a decent read. While he mentioned Roche, the lack of any real discussion about an uncle who had won the TdeF was noticable. He got on well with Nico
Yeah I’m half way through it but it’s a bit formulaic and boring so I left it. He just referred to Stephen as his uncle eating the turkey at Christmas. Dan’s father and Stephen wouldn’t be best mates.
Chris Hoy has a terminal cancer diagnosis. He’s been given 2-4 years. Two young kids, only 48
And his wife diagnosed with MS.
Start in Normandy. Mont Ventoux is back. Two time trials but probably won’t make a big difference. 50000 metres of elevation. Pogaczar will walk it.
This Tour has a real retro feel to it. Every stage in France. No big mountains until around stage 12. Lots of stages for sprinters in Normandy and Brittany. A bit of homage to Hinault who’s turning seventy and it being 40 years since he won the last Tour for France. Identical stage to Superbagneres where he lost out to lemond in 1986. Mont Ventoux back for a finish for first time since 2016 when Froome ran up it. Col de Joux Plane is back, reckoned to be one of the hardest climbs in France where Roche nicked time off Delgado on the descent in 87. No Alpe d’Huez again which is a pity. Two timetrials, one pan flat and one mountainous.
