Shane McGuirk came through the qualifying rounds yesterday to make is first TV event on debut. He plays Aspinall this evening. WDF Champions also Jimmy van Schie also came though the qualifying yesterday.
Format
Round One - Best of five sets
Round Two - Best of seven sets
Quarter-Finals - Best of seven sets
Semi-Finals - Best of nine sets
Final - Best of 11 sets
Each set is first to 2 legs instead of the usual 3 so if you lose the first leg of the set on your own throw you’re under savage pressure in leg 2.
I know they tried to make the format more exciting but the players constantly slating the travel etc doesn’t help the appeal. They’ll keep selling out arenas though in fairness so more power to the PDC but I’d happily tune out of darts till the summer majors.
The first floor events are on next week and 5 of the Premier League 8 are confirmed to be not playing already.
Humphries for example could be in Germany on Monday and Tuesday for the floor events and then Antwerp for the Premier League on Wednesday and Thursday.
It’s handy money but not ranking money. Can see why Anderson has no interest in it anymore.
