Duignan ranting about people not being able to see games without paying for them, has no issue with his employers charging Irish people abroad for content on their website, that is available free to people using the same site in Ireland.
Duignan reckons that he is entitled to his job and no one should criticise him because he has to put his kids through college.
Duignan should be giving his opinion as a pundit, but in the Pat Spillane mould he never shuts the fuck up about how he personally doesnât like the sweeper setup. If he claims to be an âanalystâ then do that, not go on year after year about he wishes more players would hit the ball along the ground and anything Kilkenny donât do is heretical. Similarly Davy has a right to defend himself and his ideas and his job is do what he thinks will win.
None of this contradicts the fact that Davy is a poisonous and self-important little bollocks. But if Duignan wants to get paid for being a critic then he has to expect some return fire.
Maybe thatâs why he did it. The football pundits were getting all the attention up to now.
I donât think Duignan is that naive to think that firing a few rounds in Davys direction isnât going to provoke a reaction.
And tbh if you want to get a reaction from somewhere, Davys track record speaks for himself.
Was it in his interviewing immediately after the match he made the comments?
Thatâs hardly the same thing. I donât think Duignan provided the initiative for the GAAGO project. To watch the Sunday Game people need a TV and to pay the TV license which is âŹ175 per year. This is something most people in the country have access to. By contrast the Sky Sports package can cost âŹ700 or âŹ800 a year and has only half the number of subscribers as there are license holders in Ireland.
Whether you agree with him or not itâs certainly not the same thing.
he didnt say that you little tool.
he said Davy Fitz should not be contacting his employers just because he doesnt agree with an opinion he made
They probably are encouraged to be controversial. Iâm sure they are aware that a lot of people find the hurling analysis to be bland and overly cautious. But Duignan has been blowing this trumpet for years. Like Regan, another Kilkenny worshipping Biffo who thinks the only way to play is like Offaly hurled in the 90s.
It is these great minds that have seen Offaly underage hurling soar to such dizzying heights in the last decade.
Nail on the head right thereâŚ
Duignan shouldnât have reacted but he lost his wife recently and it appears he has financial issues as well and may rely on the RTE gig for funds. Iâm reading between the lines here but Davy comes across a spiteful cunt if heâs up to what I think he is.
What would you know about it?
Duignan said he doesnt like the sweeper system, he didnt call Davy a fat Offaly bastard.
It was I believe.
i heard the Duignan interview.
Thereâs no doubting he had a rough of time of it, he lost his wife and business, but that was back in 08/09.
Duignan has a point then, what was Davy doing worrying about tweets that were sent during the game? Is that all that was concerning him and who the fuck told him about them? If I was to a guess I would say it was the RTE interviewer trying to provoke a bit of a reaction.
Ah here.
Davy tried to get Duignan sacked for saying he doesnât like the sweeper system, Duignan is only earning a living. Its bad form from Davy.
Davy would try and get Shefflin sacked too except he owes BOI a small fortune and cant ring them up.
Even though it happens over and over again, itâs always amusing to see how thin skinned the media are.
