Good call from Delaney to try and win popularity by slyly leaking his role in the UEFA hearing. As one of 12 he didn’t carry that much weight though. I think he fancies himself as the lead role in 12 Angry Men or something - one man standing up for justice.

I had a good laugh when I read about the Delaney ‘influence’ alright. I was flicking through the Daily Ranger down in the shop yesterday morning and they were going on about how the ‘highly skilled debater’ and ‘passionate orator’ had somehow managed to sway the rest of the committee and avert the real possibility of Celtic playing games behind closed doors. Then down at the end it said something like, ‘Record Sport understands two of the twelve-man disciplinary committee were strongly considering making a proposal that Celtic Park be closed for the remaining group matches.’ So fair play to Delaney for turning the whole thing in our favour - coming out in favour against 2 out of 12 dissenting voices in a democratic vote is no mean feat.
None of that matters. Delaney is a coont. I wouldnt be happy about my club having that sort of friendship with a bolliox.
Celtic don’t have a friendship with Delaney. He leaked the story himself to try attain some goodwill from Irish Celtic supporters that he’ll attempt to leverage off next time there’s a public outcry against some crazy FAI decision.
Seriously though, how is he regarded among eircom league supporters? Were all you not in favour of merging the league with the FAI etc and it was him driving that whole process?
he would be divisive - some would hang him for the national team & past FAI fuck ups- others would praise him for new strucures investment & more focus on the league & underage football. Im not to pushed about the national team & feel staunton although not a good manager deserves to be cut some slack-dont (like the mob mentality that dunphy etc is stirring up,) I think the league is going in the right direction so think he is ok
