Classic stuff from Paxman - big fan of his
Good post Piper. Used to like Paxman until I saw that clip. It’s patently ridiculous to bring the race of his opponent into it? It’s completely irrelevant and he’d never ask any other MP the same question.

It is obvious Paxman doesn’t like Galloway. As you say would he ask another MP that question? I think not.
I didn’t have any opinion on Paxman one way or the other until I watched that clip.
What a fooking dick.
I had too put this up, it’s a slightly longer version of the original video

Does anyone know the background on that? Did Galloway incite racial hatred?
I think this is a worse Paxman moment:

dont have sound - can anyone confirm that Mcguiness destroys him here
Not really
Paxman comes across as being a typical British (well there’s loads of them in Ireland as well), arrogant, well-the-IRA-and-Snn-Fein-are-the-same-just-terrorists type person and just appears really clueless.
He tries to bully McGuinness but he is having none of it and the interview just fizzles out

No he didn’t. Galloway is a loudmouth and some people love him and others hate him. What you can’t accuse him of is inciting racial hatred though. He went down to London and campaigned on an anti-war ticket. Just because the incumbent Labour MP wasn’t white everyone accused him of creating a battle between different immigrant communities but they only got away with saying it because:
- It was Galloway who is “controversial”
- It was a constituency that nobody ever cared about before because of its abject poverty so it was fair game for some fireworks that time.
was the last question not - do you think the MI5 would lie about your connections to the IRA & McGuiness answers- well they lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
Don’t think there was really a direct question suich as that from Paxman but that is what McGuinness said
I don’t know why he was so defensive - everyone knows that he was in the IRA. Paxman just comes across as arrogant and guilty of tired arguments to be honest…
isnt it illegal to be in the Irish Republican Army?

He does indeed.
