Does whiskey go off after its been open for a bit?

Would these be generic stuff they’ve bought in from somewhere and fucked into a few barrels they had lying about the place?

No, its all their own stuff.

Well afaik, the duty is about twenty quid. It sounds fairly labour intensive, so it mightn’t be a bad price.

No this is the real deal. They employed farmers in specific parts of the country to grow the grain, so each batch will be a batch from a different farm. The first two releases are distilled from a grain grown on a farm in Laois and the other from a farm in Bannow bay in Wexford.

The grain was harvested in 2015.

This stuff will be high end and I expect fairly collectable.

Until people realise its not worth half that

Someone has bought the marketing anyway

@balbec will attest that the biggest expense in alcohol manufacture is marketing

I should add that psychologically I have a vested interest in this doing well in that it is the best economic story to come out of Waterford in a couple of decades. If this goes well it will be a long overdue shot in the arm for the town. The owner, Mark Reynier, has a good track record in the industry

You could buy tickets that gave you a bottle as well for the launch.

What’s view on that Drumshanbo whiskey.

I bought it as a present for a lad who likes whiskey and he thought it was lovely. They have a second one out now I think.

Sure no harm in that. I am positively disposed to the Deise as a good neighbour and wish ye nothing but the best

I have a ticket for the launch, which was cancelled because of Covid. Put back to September now. But the bottle will be available in July. Different bottle to what’s being launched for sale this weekend.

It completely slipped my mind that Covid would stop the event and the launch

It looks like it will be a big success. Lots of chatter and interest around it.

The organization around the launch and shipping the first batch for sale struck me as chaotic which would be a worry. I was talking to a lad with a wine shop in Waterford today and he has no clue how many bottles he is getting so he can’t take pre orders.

People will believe anything. Never scrimp on the marketing.

70-79 a bottle for 5 year old whiskey because the barley was grown in Laois.

Stock up now. You won’t be picking this up in Walmart for 40 dollars

I can pick up 12 year old yellow spot for the same price mate.

I’ve already a bottle on the way

It’s collectible whiskey. You’d be mad to actually drink it

Will you drink it?
