Dublin GAA 2012

fuck - meant to call the thread Dublin GAA 2013. Can one amend a thread title??

nah… didn´t bother me bollox…Brady is a serious athlete…he´s made for modern day gaelic football…last time i saw him play was at full forward and he´d good ball skill back then…how did O´Mahoney do in midfield for Dublin ?..

me dublin sources tell me Pat Gilroy looked for Brady the last 2 seasons but he stuck with the hurling. The same sources telling me they have little doubt Brady will make it at centre back for the footballers. O’Mahony was okay. Nothing special.

Exasperating.

Dublin need a big strong commanding centre back…don´t think brennan is the answer…would love to see cian o sullivan play out wing back for the season …great going forward and well able to kick a score…Mcarthy has such an engine on him i´d push him into midfield…he won´t catch much ball but with cluxton´s kick outs he wudn´t need to…a bit like shane ryan didn´t have to…

Yeah McCarthy midfield is an option. Paul Flynn would probably do a job there too

its his hobby ffs - serious athletes are professionals

I think Dublin need to look elsewhere for midfield options. Flynn has been an All-Star in his position the last two years and should be left there especially in light of the waning powers of Bryan Cullen on the other wing. McCarthy has a great engine but is very poor at judging the flight of the ball for kickouts and is arguably better breaking onto the ball from half back.

Fennell had to go - offered very little all year apart from one good half against Laois and just isn’t mobile enough for the modern game.I think that is why O’Mahony is back. Not the solution but a stopgap until O’Conghaile developes from the 21s but I don’t think he will develop as fast as everyone hopes.

Was at the Blue Stars game myself and while Brady looked committed it is essentially a challenge game and he is still raw enough for inter county. Wouldn’t be betting the bank on him just yet.

Paul Hudson looked lively and scored 5 from play off Cian O’Sullivan and was probably Dublin’s best forward last year in the u21 campaign behnd Kilkenny. He looks like he might see a good bit of game time this year.

with teams dropping wing forwards back etc. you don’t need 2 great fielders in the middle…its so bunched that fcuk all clean ball will be caught and if it is, there’s 5 fellas around you by the time you come down ala Dara o Se and dermot Earley v tyrone a few years back…i think one big physical lad and one runner is the ideal midfield partnership…you need a guy who can cover the ground and carry ball…mcarthy and flynn both offer that from the breaking ball i feel…especially in summer when ground is hard…i think its where kerry fall down a bit…they have two big lads in middle but sheehan and maher both struggle to cover the ground…

ah here - another backroom team member for the dubs. Head of the performance analysis.

This is becoming farcicial. Does the manager actually do anything apart from going around talking to the 18 other lads on the backroom team!?

Dublin are going to hammer Kerry at the weekend

They will win anyway. I have them at 11\10 with ladbrokes.

They were also 11\10 v cork last weekend. Cork had 5 changes on their team just before throw in with 5 newbies on instead of established players. Got a nice few bob on them just before throw in

3-7 to 0-6 up with five minutes left against Longford.

High scoring fare up North I see

0-15 to 0-10 I’m hearing Sid

Was listening to it on radio and it sounded like Meath got a point with the last kick when it was 0-15 to 0-10. Not to worry - a bit of silverware for Dessie and gets last year out of the system.

Dublin County Board Chairman Andy Kettle has died. RIP.

When it boils down to it, he was one of the best Chairmen they had.

He was excellent and will be sadly missed. One only has to think back to the bad old days of John Bailey and how a good hand on the tiller makes a world of difference.
