Love Smyths, top boozer, would be an awful shame to see it go.

Belly up would have been a better name

I used to think it was okay. Wouldn’t be in my top ten or anything but it was a grand pub to drink in.

Full of cunts alright, but sure I was one of them

It was always very fond of itself without any particularly good reason.

It insists upon itself.

A nothing pub.

Nothing distinctive about it, no attempt to make anything distinctive about it.

Just keep it nice and safe and charge through the nose for drink given its location.

Sounds like a good business model

A taxi driver who sounded like he new what he was talking about told me the best pint of Guinness in Dublin is in Delahunty’s on Dorset street.

Do with that what you will

Yeah - you see the problem with that is that you need to be alive when you are tasting it for it to count.

Is it like that?

He was a proper Dub alright.

I don’t know but its location on the town side of Dorset Street would be pretty rough. Hutch territory would be close by.

Chapter One is around the corner there. Should and could be an amazing part of the city.

My father in law has frequented many pubs around there.

He was a fan of Berminghams which is now closed.

‘I was on first name terms with Mr Bermingham’ he once said.

A great Offaly man. Berminghams was stuck in a 1960s timewarp and was no worse for it
