Dublin Riots 2018

Krugman is a blowhard cunt

It was poor phraseology on my part.

Higher rates of unemployment and marginalisation are generally the result.

Obviously most people in these areas are law-abiding and work, which was my point yesterday when people were trying to paint the people of these areas in general as scum, or whatever word they wanted to use.

Correct, but when he decided to invent a new term about the Irish economy the left in Ireland lapped it up.

But they will happily use the distorted figure for their own ends.

Expand it to all immigrants versus those born in the US and see who commits more crime.

Christ, you’re moaning about fairness now?

I thought you hated fairness.

Ireland does not have a developed welfare state compared to Europe and that is a fact.

In all fairness the mugs that were caught robbing are probably older and a different league to the knackers and scumbags who robbed the machinery

Absolutely. It is a disgrace the amount you pay into social insurance when you work is ignored when you seek unemployment benefit and benefits are capped.

Please address the topic and not your spoofery.

When you adjust for GNI*, Ireland are slightly behind the EU average. The reason for being slightly below is that we have one of, if not, the youngest populations in the EU and therefore have less pension payments than our EU counterparts.

As I have always said, I don’t have a problem with paying social welfare. I believe Ireland should pay far more to people who initially lose their jobs in order for them to sustain their families. I am also very much in favour of higher paternity pay and actually forcing men to take it, like the continent is moving to. Ireland though has a system though whereby once you are unemployed you can go off on the 190 odd euro dole for a near indefinite period of time.

The number of people leaving the Irish workforce with disability does not tally with our young population.

When you mention these structural issue you are met with a wall of “right wing” cries and no actual debate, you being a prime culprit of this sub intellectualism style.

Poverty.

But not the monetary type of poverty. Poverty of care, poverty of ambition, poverty of responsibility, poverty of perseverance and resilience, and poverty of values. Throwing money at these people doesn’t do anything for them except allow them to subsist and the behaviours to persist.

I feel sorry for the majority of decent people who have to live beside these people, the ones who want to be economically active and participate in society need support more than those who have no ambition to contribute anything…

“These people”

He since admitted he hadn’t got the full facts when he made that assessment.

Whadya mean “you” people :grinning:

He’d fit right in here so. Going off half cocked without the facts

Twas a great phrase to coin all the same. Perfection.

They are animals

Last night I erroneously referred to “Lidl looter Gerard Buggle”.

This was a very careless defamation and I apologise to Gerard for it.

I should have said “Gerard Buggle, who was appeared in court yesterday”.

If charges are brought against Mr. Buggle, I will then refer to him as “alleged (perpetrator of crime X) Gerard Buggle”. If charges are brought against others I will refer to them as “alleged (perpetrator of crime X) (name)”.

The damage to property and looting that took place at Lidl in Jobstown on Friday night is a criminal case and until any charges that may arise are proven beyond reasonable doubt, Mr. Buggle and others who have been arrested are innocent and are entitled to be referred to as such.

I would ask other forum members to please be mindful of this.

Did you get your wrist slapped by one of the mods?

OK everybody, the following people should be referred to as such in any future posts, bearing in mind that these men are currently innocent and will remain so unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

“Alleged handler of stolen property John Kelly”.

“Alleged trespasser with intent to commit an offence Paul Freeman”.

“Alleged thief of groceries of the value of €50 Edger Cesynas”.

“Alleged possessor of stolen groceries worth €60 Povilas Gneizevicius”.

“Alleged thief of goods worth €70, including LED lights, four packets of tealights, and running shoe insoles Gerard Buggle”.

“Alleged trespasser with intent to commit an offence Keith Kelly”.

“Alleged possessor of a weapon and causer of criminal damage while trespassing Mohammed Snew”.

“Alleged trespasser and causer of criminal damage John Doyle”.

“Alleged trespasser and causer of criminal damage David Bernie”.

Says it all, really.

Paul Freeman (43), with an address on Russell Green, Tallaght, was arrested on Fortunestown Lane, and charged with trespassing in the grounds of the Lidl store with the intent to commit an offence.

The court heard that after he was read his charge sheet, he told gardaí: “I wasn’t there to be stealing or robbing anything, I have my own house. I don’t need to rob anything.”

When asked about his income by Mr Justice John O’Connor, Mr Freeman replied “social welfare, disability”.

Which fella is the “alleged possessor of a stolen safe”?
