Dundee United v Celtic

Bringing on a striker for a right back is adventurous.

I think Balde is going to be a big player for us.

Rogic on for Boerrigter, was hoping weā€™d see Atajic as we could use his energy and craft.

Should that not have been a peno?

No claims from Stokes.

Thought that looked a penalty?

Commons should have at least hit the target there.

Brown and Ledley have been poor again today.

Wonderful close control from Stokes again.

Tony Fucking Stokes.

Genius from Stokes.

Stokes:clap:

Stokesy!

A step above the rest

And to think Rocko and Bandage thought Fat Gary Hooper was a better player.

That was a fucking cracking free kick.

Rogic has the pace of a snail.

Contrary to your other posts Iā€™ve always rated Stokes highly. The major difference of opinion was on Hooper and you seem to believe that you canā€™t rate Stokes if you rate Hooper.

I donā€™t think Stokes has been treated badly by Celtic. He didnā€™t exactly endear himself to the supporters by choosing more money elsewhere when he had the chance but he was badly advised. He has certainly improved his fitness and conditioning in the last year, it was an issue before then and was identified by successive managers at different clubs and at international level. Itā€™s to his credit that heā€™s turned that around.

There are still tactical issues with how and where he is played. As you said yourself a couple of weeks ago he doesnā€™t always seem at home as a solitary striker. His quick feet are his greatest asset and he can be very creative but I think he could improve his goalscoring by copying the style of Robbie Keane. Both are strikers with a very high skill level who like to drop deeper. But Robbie realised the value of goals and became a better poacher as his career has gone on. Stokes could improve his penalty box anticipation and might make himself indispensable.

Great performance from him today.

Van Dijk was immense today too.

You rated Hooper above Stokes and made no qualms about them. I wonā€™t let your sour grapes detract on what has been a great vindication for me.

Neil McCann criticising van Dijkā€™s performance today. Bizarre. He was excellent - faultless in his defending, won everything in the air, brought the ball out from the back well, played some fine passes forward and even had a couple of brilliant efforts at goal.

World class from Stokes.
