There’s meant to be monsoon style weather in the city of discovery. The referee declared the pitch playable this morning but will be monitoring it right up to kick-off. I hope we don’t have an abandonment on the cards.
Celtic:
Forster,
Wilson, Majstorovic, Mulgrew, Izaguirre,
Brown, Kayal, Ledley, Commons,
Stokes, Hooper.
Substitutes: Zaluska, Ki, Rogne, Carey, Ljungberg, Samaras, McCourt.
Happy with that team. One change from last week - Stokes in for Ki as we revert back to 4-4-2. Brown has passed his fitness test after pulling out of the midweek Scotland game. Rogne is also back on the bench.
Really hope the game isn’t abandoned. Clubs like Dundee United should face financial sanctions for their shitty pitches IMO, how many games is that their pitch has been unable to cope with the weather this season?
The team I would have gone with and it’s also nice to have Rogne back. I could be wrong here now, but is that us at full strenght with the exception of Maloney now? A great time to have everyone back, exactly as we are playing the best football of the season. Expectant of a 2 or 3 goal win today but Tannadice has been a tricky venue for us the past couple of years and if the pitch is in a poor state it will naturally effect our slicker game, more than it will Dundee United.
The only other absentee that I can think of is Andy Hinkel and he would probably have been sold last August had he not done his knee ligaments. I’m still trying to find a stream with the ESPN coverage so I haven’t seen how bad the pitch is. There might have been a case to play Sammy with Hooper if we need to go more direct.
That’s the team I’d have gone with too. Bandage look at my streaming thread from a while back to find the new address for firstrow. And that atdhe or whatever it is is now at .me instead of .net
Cheers Rocko. ESPN coverage link:

Houston the hun reckons the pitch might become unplayable as the game develops.
Not a pitch for knocking it about at the back. Emilio nearly caught out there. Play football from midfield forward but everything at the back has to be play it the way you’re facing.
Decent beginning from Celtic with Commons heavily involved. Slightly concerned at the spare men they’ve had on the break though. They’re drifting wide and finding huge space.
My laptop has been banjoed for the last few weeks and I’m on a crap low speed internet connection which won’t load a stream. It’s the simple joys of BBC Radio Scotland for me once again for this.
Ah yes. Ah lovely.
Ah lovely. Well done Mulgrew and Kayal and then Stokes did the right thing in backing them up in these conditions. Keep hitting the target and goals follow. More goals in this game though.
Conway is really hugging their left touchline and Wilson is reluctant to stay that wide. Could do with a bit more help from Brown there.
Brown has been excellent in recent weeks but he’s not tracking runs at all today. Watched a 1-2 there without going with Conway.
Craig Burley is a bonafide orange cunt. Getting offended by Derek Rae calling Rangers bid for Conway mischievous
Agreed he has jogged along as Dixon has steamrolled past Conway, maybe he’s carrying an injury and not really wanting to exert himself.
How bad is the pitch? Is there a genuine possibility that this could be abandoned? Is there any rule where the result counts if a certain number of minutes are played?
Wilson 2-0.
Wilson can’t stop scoring. Nice build up from Hooper and Brown.
It’s shite but far from unplayable. Not waterlogged more muddy in patches. Two thirds must be played for result to stand I think.
Right on Burley Mr Totti. Went out of his way to disagree with him there.
Very lucky not to be 3 there.
