We’re not killing the planet, that’s just hysteria by the alarmists. The planet has supported life for 4 billion years and will support life for another 4 billion years. What kind of life is a separate question.
Since 1800, human population has increased from 1 billion to almost 8 billion, and human life span has increased from 40 to 80 years. Hardly on the verge of extinction.
