SolarCity was his next project. It wasnât revolutionary solar tech. It was basically mergers and acquisitions of small to medium sized solar installers in CA.
I admire a lot of what he has achieved and promises to achieve and no doubting his cleverness but the self-made, all-inventing billionaire line is very much massaged public image.

Man who had zero wealth in 1995 at age 24 (actually $100k in student debt), grows net worth to $160 million at age 31 and to $320 billion by the time he was 50 is not a self made man? I mean it was all funded initially by seed money but sure thatâs part of his genius.
