Energy Crisis

Ireland is reliant for 3% of its energy from Russia apparently, why guaranteed blackouts?

Seems to be a bit of secondary concern on diesel but Europe looks to have found alternative sources of that quicker.

Depends on the household. Some could probably cut their use by 50% and not really notice I reckon.

Iā€™d be more concerned about businesses going kaput and secondary impacts driving a recession at this point.

What happens when the wind doesnā€™t blow? How does that gap get filled do you mind me asking?

What happened last year when the wind didnt blow?

Supply was abundant then mate

How has our supply changed this year?

Look mate the whole.of europe has been told to cut back, lets just do that

Iā€™m fairly sure data centres etc already had to have contingencies like generators and would be warned well in advance. Itā€™s not a new thing and thereā€™s always risks of it.

Not an expert by any means but 3% would seem manageable on the face of it. For Central and Eastern Europe they have more dependence. Price would seem to be more of an issue hereā€¦

Itā€™ll be a winter or Eirgrid update on capacity rather than NPHETā€™s Covid numbers.
Stay Together rather than stay apart.

Eamon Ryanā€™s latest policy, buy an electric car, then buy a petrol generator to charge it

If there are to be blackouts Iā€™m told that your talking rolling 1hr events in different areas.

Whether thatā€™s true or not is debatable

Would seem manageable enough tbh.

Prices for many wonā€™t be. Think people cutting back and government subsidies will get households by but not businesses.

Heā€™s on the front of this weeks Donegal Democrat as well, giving out about the delay in appointing a manager for the county senior team.

Heā€™s morphing into Bono with insights on everything.
Jim will want to ease back a bit, heā€™s spreading himself thin hereā€¦

They were told 18 months ago. They have tankers of kerosene going into them daily powering generators to supplement the electricity supply.

Can they power on and off grid that easily. Itā€™ll cause big issues with businesses/manufacturing

It will be a major ball ache for SMEs. Powering servers/machines off willy nilly is not good.

The lefty headbangers, green cultists, king of the midwit types (@Gman) dimwitt representative (@carryharry) and the rest who are denial of physical reality should read this thread. People suffering and dying due to cold and energy shortages this winter is because of an accumulation of so called green policies pursued over the last number of years, insane carbon rhetoric, covid lockdowns and idiots like @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy, @mikehunt and Eamonn Ryan who gleefully cheer this madness on. I genuinely canā€™t get over how stupid ā€˜green energyā€™ supporters are.
