MILAN - President Massimo Moratti and everyone at Inter were delighted to learn thatRoy Hodgson has been appointed as England’s new manager.

Being chosen by the Football Association is the highest honour for an English coach but in the case of Hodgson it is also just reward for a sincere and generous man who can be considered a true friend of Inter.

We send Roy our most affectionate regards and wish him the best of luck in his new job.

Joey Barton will be discussing this with Jeremy Paxman on Bbc2s Newsnight later.

English tabloids out in full support of their new man:

I don’t know what to say to that!

Fuckin Hell

Congwatulations Woy.

Gas how one of his first tasks is to bring John Terry and Rio Ferdinand together to “see if they can be in the same squad”, here’s hoping, as they’re both shite.

My pommy colleague here was just saying to me how when a new England manager is appointed, there is a full blush of hope and optimism, which is invariably followed by despair and embarrassment. Just that they have avoided the first bit this time.

He would have been better off telling them both they werent going to be in the squad. Ferdinand might be ok as backup but he can’t play 2 games in a week. Terry is poison behind the scenes

Better off playing having Cahill and Lescott in there. They are both quick and could push up to a very high line. Pack the midfield with cloggers like Cattermole and Parker and attempt to kick the fuck out of the opposition midfield and use Crouchy up front without Rooney.
Gerrard should be nowhere near the squad. He’s finished.

Wewease Wodewick!

 You’re some weirdo.

You told us a couple of weeks ago that Terry wasn’t a bad egg at Chelsea:

“only those behind the scenes know how poisonous the influence some of the key players allegedly have. Id say it is well overplayed. The poisonous influence I reckon is that criminal of a chairman who is used to buying whatever he wants”

There are few things worse in life than being caught out on the internet for rank inconsistency of opinion.* This is a really embarrassing moment for KIB man.

  • Of course, it’s completely acceptable to change your mind over a concerted period of time based on changing events and emerging evidence. Like myself with Barcelona.

Seems like The Sun’s front page could conversely lead to public support turning in Hodgson’s favour. I’m basing this on my Twitter timeline.

KIB Mong

Splendid recall there rocko, if a little unsettling

very unsettling.

The two boys are obsessed with each other

I was classed as a stalker and a weirdo for much less than Rocko has done here

You’re not as popular as me.

Popularity is the hallmark of Mediocrity

I see Roy has started his tenure by pleading to be given a chance.

You do realise that Chelsea and England are two different teams?

At the last WC, Terry went to a press conference midway through the tournament and said his mate Joe Cole should be in the team ffs.

Apples and oranges mate

Sticking to posting pics of Jewish kids on Xmas morning

Bizarre. I wondered if he’d reply and argue the point anyway which of course he did.
