EPL 2009/2010 official thread

Is Owen on a pay per play contract? With the sitter he missed against Leeds I wouldn’t be playing him at all. They’re hardly trying to save money by not playing him are the?

Hat trick for Tevez, 4-1 to City, up into 4th place.

Bandage, if you don’t mind me saying it…

AH LOVELY…! :D:clap:

Carlito’s Way, anyone who has him as their captain in their ff team will be delighted with that performance

 Alas will still not be enough to win my H2h with MBB as he had him as captain too. Needed City to keep a clean sheet to win.

Fergie is seething somewhere in Dubai.

Berbatov was always flaky and windy. I didn’t rate him at Leverkusen, but he did well at Spurs.

No doubt the guy has stacks of ability but doesn’t have the right temperment.

I heard that he pukes with the nerves before every United game. That is not good.

Letting Tevez go is looking like a bigger mistake as the season goes on. Berbatov looks lost at Utd and Fergie obviously doesn’t believe in Owen.

Many of you may have forgotten about the story of the unnamed EPL manager who made frequent trips to a brothel from a few weeks ago. Some of you have probably heard who it is anyway, but for those who didn’t, I’m afraid I can’t tell you. Ah fuck that. It was Avram Grant.

Nice misprint on Breaking News

Duo back for Burnley
Bolton manager Owen Coyle expects Kevin Davies and Mark Davies to come into contention for his first game in charge on Sunday against Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium.

Chelsea 4-0 up…

First EPL goal for our future midfield general James McCarthy.

United made hard work of Burnley but a win is a win. Mame Diouf scores on his Old Trafford debut. Owen is now 4th choice.

Gareth Bale has yet to start a premier league game that spurs have won after 2 and a half years at the club.

Rafa is really losing it, he looks like a fella just about to crack.

P.S. anyone know how many were at the game?

Watched second half today of Everton v City. City were pretty awful, Robinho who came on as a sub was subbed. Ran down the tunnel so guess he is out of there. Everton were really impressive, definitely a team to avoid at the moment. Feilliani completely dominated the midfield, Pienaar very good also. Coleman came on right back and had a decent cameo. City poor all over the pitch bar Given and their left back Garrido. Presume Stevie ireland was injured as they were rank poor in midfield but made no changes.

Berbatov had a record of almost a goal every two games in Leverkusen. Not bad going.

Tevez scored five league goals last season, Berbatov scored nine. Berbatov is hit and miss but creates a lot of goals too. Tevez was frankly shit last season, played far too deep and ran around too much. Def not worth 25m.

Owen is shit and has been for about five years. Would have been a surprise if he had been any good.

Guardian report refers to him as young Scottish midfielder James McCarthy this evening.

Well it’s technically true I suppose.

Villa badly slipped up there after yesterdays results… They were lucky to hang on for a draw in the end.

A great weekend for Liverpool who have narrowed the gap to 4th down to four points. They must be favourites to clinch it now,

Awful performance from Villa today. Style of play was very predictable, playing for set pieces - rigid 442. Must have had about 15 corners but movement in the box was very poor and crossing very hit and miss. Manager has a lot to answer for imo. Last season the team tired badly around March. It seems to be happening earlier this year. Dont know what the point is of spending 7m on the likes of Delph if you dont trust them at home to West Ham. Diabolical decision to start Cuellar ahead of Luke Young in a home game like this. Gabby has hit the skids big time - was hopeless today. Heskey a total passenger and Carew didnt do much either. The whole point about having a stronger squad is to use them. Today was an ideal opportunity but MON in his wisdom played the same eleven as midweek and made only one substitution again predictable - Carew for Heskey. Momentum lost big time after the win midweek and fourth place wont happen without signing a top class striker which is unlikely. Are we actually improving under MON? Seems to be we are treading water a bit to be honest.

Friedel 6, Cuellar 5, Collins 5, Dunne 7, Warnock 7, Young 5, Petrov 8, Milner 5, Downing 6, Gabby 3, Heskey 3. Sub- Carew 5

Tevez scored 14 goals the previous season when he was first choice, not being dropped every second game. And my point was not that Utd should have let Berbatov go instead of Tevez, they should have kept both. IMO Berbatov looks good against poor teams but tends to disappear against better opposition whereas Tevez seems to relish those games. Owen was a gamble that doesn’t seem to have worked. Sadly it now looks like Utd cant afford to buy the calibre of player they need to remain competitive.
