Both Vieira and Adam Johnson starting for City tonight…
Tevez gets lucky with his peno…
My gamble on Adam Johnson is paying dividends already in the FF
Ive watched this since half time. Adebayor hasnt got a touch. He has been frankly hopeless. The co-commentator has been slating Shay Given and Viera. Given has looked a bit jumpy in fairness.
Booya.
Vieria great pass to Adebayor. Cracking goal.
An eternally frustrating player Adebayor, but then he can do that, some skill.
Johnson is more than decent. Feel sorry for Petrov.
City were far from impressive. 2-0 in the end. Only three players I was impressed with were Zabaleta, Johnson and De Jong. Tevez and Adebayor didnt work hard enough or hold it up well. Vieira won a few vital headers and created the second goal but in truth looked leaden footed in midfield. Johnson looks a decent threat out wide. Apart from that, Barry at left midfield was never likely to work, he also had an awful 10 min period at left back when Bridge was taken off. Bridge looked shit. Mancini brought Sylvinho on then as Barry was farcically bad.
Obviously Mancini wants a 442 with holding central midfielders to protect his defence similar enough to the Irish team. Must say it’s not looking too good for Stevie Ireland under him. Out wide he is competing with Johnson, Petrov, SWP, Bellamy. Centrally he is up against Barry, De Jong, Vieira and Kompany. By all accounts he was woeful at Hull at the weekend so little Stevie would want to get the finger out and quick.
Pompey scored in the fifth minute of added time to get a draw with Sunderland…3 players sent off in total, Sunderland finished with 9 men, Cattermole(surprise surprise) and young meyler seeing red for Sunderland who seem to have gone to shite in the last 6-8 weeks
Adebayor is a very good player. I always thought it and always felt the Arsenal fans gave him a very hard time considering how he did for them. He practically single handely fired them to challenging for the league until around March a couple of seasons back.
Good.
I dislike Bruce. Mouthy and after the quick buck.
Sunderland are well down in the mix with only 1 win in 16 games. Wigan have only won twice since Halloween too.
Any 3 from Blackburn in 12th to Wolves in 19th could go down. 7 points between 8 teams. Pompey are doomed despite the point tonight. Injuries could be crucial. Gary Cahill missing for Bolton could be massive for instance.
At the other end if City win the game in hand they will be only be two points behind Arsenal. The loss at Hull though might come back to bite them I’d say.
Apart from that season 2007/2008, Adebayor’s highest scoring season in the league has been 10. His record in Monaco was poor as it was with Arsenal before 2007/2008 and since. From what I remember of that 07/08 season apart from the goals was his great workrate and teamplay. That has all but disappeared now.
It is wide open down there alright…If Burnley could pick up a few points away from home they would stay up, 12 defeats in 13 away games is shocking
You only watched one half i thought?
I’m just waiting for you to turn this into “Man City aren’t as good as villa…blaa blaa blaa…”
Ireland is a superior player to De Jong, Viera and Kompany. Probably around the same standard as Barry, he’ll stay there.
Ireland definitely suffers when a manager wants to play 4-4-2. He is not a central midfielder in a two and he is not a winger.
Would love to see him at Arsenal. Wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves City in the summer.
Compare Nigel de Jong and Steven Ireland there or even Gareth Barry with Steven Ireland and how they fit into the 442 system that Mancini is trying to employ?
Yeah just about to say that. He’s good in a central 3 when he gets a bit of freedom to get on the ball, make runs and pick a few passes. But he’s not disciplined enough (yet anyway) to play in a flat 2 and certainly not if the manager has aspirations for them to be defensive minded.
Arsenal have enough small skilfull players with no pace I would have thought.
