Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following a challenge on Stoke’s Glenn Whelan.
The 33-year-old Frenchman appeared to kick Whelan in the groin as he stumbled to the floor during the first half of City’s 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Vieira could face a three-match ban for the challenge, although he can appeal against the decision by 6pm on Thursday.
The FA brought the charge against the midfield battler after reviewing television replays on Wednesday, despite the player not picking up a yellow card in the game.
The case against Vieira, who was sent off 10 times in nine years for former club Arsenal, will be heard by a Regulatory Commission on Friday.
If upheld, he could miss the games against Liverpool at Eastlands and the away trips to Stoke (in the FA Cup) and Chelsea
Cunt is only back and he’s at it again.
I don’t know, i was starting to think that, but Fab is gone, he’s in Barcelona or somewhere already. He hasn’t been in it at all since the rumours started again.
Their back ups showed during the week they ain’t up to it either.
Cesc looked alright midweek of what I saw of it. They have a decent run in, and Arsenal can railroad teams like that. We’ll see. Very little distractions either. They have a chance, we’ll see if they can take it.
I can see Arsenal going on a run like TFK did to win the Astro title last year. Most fans will remember us losing to the team that finished bottom and the subsequent line in the sand moment here http://www.thefreekick.com/board/index.php/topic/7976-open-forum-tfk-astro-team-going-to-shit/. We turned things around with a 14 match winning streak, Arsenal have 12 games left. The parallels to between the sides are startling.
I posted up the remaining games last week, Arsenal have a very kind run in, trickiest teams are City at home and Spurs away. United and Chelsea still have to meet so anything can happen yet.
Arsenal team for today:
Arsenal team in full:Almunia, Eboue, Silvestre, Vermaelen, Clichy, Song, Ramsey, Fabregas, Nasri, Walcott, Bendtner
Substitutes: Fabianski, Sagna, Campbell, Traore, Denilson, Rosicky, Vela
Never thought I’d say it but it’s great to see Almunia back. Silvestre starting is a strange one. Really like the look of that midfiled.
Cracking interview with Ferguson and the legendary Andy Burton there. Obviously Fergson was going to be seething and Burton came out with questions like:
‘Are you disappointed?’
‘Are the players disappointed?’
‘Is there character in the dressing room?’
‘Is this a bad result for the title race?’
‘Is this a time for panic?’
Cue withering looks and one word answers from Ferguson.
Villa spanked the shit out of the minnows Burnley 5-2. Fitzy taped it for me on Fox. Just watched it this morning. We were pretty shite in the first half, Ashley Young apart. His goal was a bit of a fluke. Second half the likes of Milner and Downing woke up and we hammered them. Should have scored even more. Downing needed goals so its good that he got off the mark. Gabby has equaled his highest ever scoring season with 13. Hopefully he can push on to 18. If he gets 20 we will definitely have a Cup won or 4th place. Even heskey the useless cunt scored and was involved in another. Only negatives were Warnock getting beaten in the air in the lead up to the first, it is happening too often with him. Plus he lost Paterson for the second. Cuellar at right back was alright but much prefer Luke Young there. Burnley were very tidy at times on the ball but we easily over powered them in the second half all over the pitch.
Anyway Palace midweek at home in the Cup. Would like to see Carew and Delfouneso partnered up front. MON will def rest a few with the Carling Cup final next weekend. Hopefully Milner given a rest with Delph coming in. Would go with Young and Downing though as their goals will have given them a lift and hopefully we can score early and kill it off. Ashley Young looks in good form ahead of a critical part of the season which is a good omen too.
