The style of football Mick McCarthy employs at Wolves is disgusting. Hoof it in the general direction of Doyle and hope for the best. Never been that gone on him as a person either. Likes to play up his Paddyness and his Yorkshireness at various times depending on which gallery he is playing to. He is a tactical bufoon but looks like he has kept Wolves up so guess he should be given the same hero status as Roy Keane or Phil Brown.
As a Hammers fan I’m disgusted. Very bad performance all round really. They didn’t cope with the 5 in midfield and though they coped well enough with the long ball tactics, the game Wolves were playing is a percentage one and it paid off. But there was no get up and go in them at all I thought. Parker tried but got no support. Benni McCarthy is a waste of space. Cole was bad. Di Manti got on a lot of ball but the crosses he was sending in were tame to say the least, no bit of zip in them. West Ham are lucky that Hull and Burnley are so bad and that the goal difference they have will stand to them. Stoke at home on Saturday won’t be easy either.

Wolves kept the ball far better than West Ham last night, until they went 3-0 up. The game was won then and they sat back a bit. Possession stats were in favour of Wolves but it wasn’t just the stats, they were getting midfielders up in support of Doyle and playnig it around a bit in the right area of the park. You don’t have to keep the ball at the back to keep possession.

I don’t think he’s even watching Aston Villas games these days, as he doesn’t rate James Milner in the middle of the park.

Wolves played a passing game last night anyway. I was impressed because I didn’t realise they had any players who could pass the ball. Couldn’t tell you how they’ve played over the entire season mind.
