Maccabi Tel Aviv have just won the Israeli championship for the first time since 2004 by beating Hapoel Ramat Hasharon 2-0 tonight, they now an unassaible 13 points clear of haifa.
why is that interesting?
well, Oscar Garcia the Maccabi coach who joined at the beginning of the season came here from Barcelona where he looked after the youth team set up, he arrived here with Jordi Cruyff who was director of football at AEK Larnaca,
anyway, Garcia has a 2 year deal and he is putting together a pretty decent side backed by the Canadian Walmart owner to make an impression on next season’s champions league… however it is rumoured that Villa are on his case along with West Brom, that was in the news here today, not sure how true the rumours are
