I recently got Disney+ and I’ve rewatched a couple,
Little big men (about the 1982 Little league World Series) is a great show, nice and short as well.
Doc and Darryl is enjoyable, for me anyway as I spent three of those summers in NY and was a huge mets fan
Just watched this. Very enjoyable alright. I think the line thay summed up Hinault the best was that he never went into politics because he never cared about anyone other than himself.
Lemond was and continues to be a great bit of stuff. Sadly my view of him as a kid was tainted by the jingoistic fervour surrounding Roche, but it’s lovely to look back now and see what a truly incredible man he was. A legend of sport, and giant of a more beautiful time in cycling.
As was I but Delgado was the cunt to hate. By the time Lemond reemerged Roche succumbed to injury. Withdrew from one and might not have entered another which Lemond won.
Kelly didnt have it in the legs for the mountain stages.
Lemond was a great story coming back from the injury and giving two fingers to the French cunts that wanted Fignon to win at all costs.
Blowing The Whistle - RTE documentary following referees Pat McEneaney and Michael Curley in 1999.
Been waiting for this one to appear for a while. 36-37 minutes in is the money scene.
As an aside, all four provincial finals in 1999 were the epitome of what you call championship atmospheres.
i) A gloriously bitter Cork v Kerry Munster final in the muck and the rain in front of a rabid, sold out Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
ii) A classic John Maughan era Mayo performance to overpower Galway in the last ever Connacht final in Tuam.
iii) Armagh’s breakout performance to obliterate Down in the stifling heat of the Clones bowl. A Marsden and McConville masterclass. “Happy, happy people, the people of Armagh”.
iv) Dublin’s archetypal chaos years performance in the last ever high summer Dublin v Meath knockout Leinster final as Paddy Andrews was disembowelled by Ollie Murphy with Tommy Carr and the rest of the capacity crowd watching on helplessly.
